It's always been a bit soulless, but I used to really enjoy my trips there in the mid to late 90's when I was collecting POTF2. Good times 8)
Ah, now that brings back memories, searching for the "super rare" POTF2 varients, or waiting till someone comes out with the fresh boxes and raiding them before they hit the hangers...what fun.
Yes, I remember being really pleased that I found an 'elusive' POTF2 Bib Fortuna at TRU!... Shortly before they appeared everywhere and warmed pegs for months on end :)

Mind you, I did also go there for the AOTC opening toy day. I took two non-collector friends with me, we each bought one figure (for me) and I came away with 3 Toy Fair Vaders :)

Brighton. Lots of the other aisles were the same (Barbie, video games etc)

Was gonna pop in there this weekend... seeing that, I don't think I'll bother now. Unless one of those displays is going cheap...lol.

Yeah it did cross my mind whether they would let the displays go cheap. There are still some Star Wars toys near the entrance and on the end of that aisle, but not much.

I've got great memories of Toys R Us from when I was a kid. They opened a huge one in Basildon in the 80's and I remember going up there when it opened, it was bedlam. First time I'd seen a supermarket sized toy shop! I was well excited. Used to love going up there every now and then.

Edit: Just Googled it and Basildon was one of the first to be opened in Britain in 1985. I was 9 :D

The toys r us in Portsmouth is only 5 minuits walk from my house I remember going there with my parents as a kid in the late 80s and I have taken my own kids there. It's a real shame but it did loose it's feel as a toy store over the past few years.

Toys R Us was like heaven to me as a kid, can't believe how excited I used to be sitting in the car with my mom and dad on the way there, used to spend aaages browsing at all the cool toys in those long shelf isles. Even going in there as an adult used to give me a little buzz just because it was Toys R Us.

First it was Woolworths and Blockbuster and now this, my childhood has officially died! :(

I used to love woollies when I was a kid, my mama used to take us in every Saturday and we could choose a figure.

It's true subzero, all of our childhood has officially died, very sad when these big retailers go bust

I know that things have to move on and all that but to people like us the past and pop culture history is very important to us, it is sad to think that these places that were a big part of our lives are now gone forever, never to even be there to be able to at least glance at going past them just for old times sake.

Very true, I feel the 80's was an epic era personally, a lot happened in those 10 years, I like to reflect on the good old days  good memories.
