Question on UK customs

But wouldn't it be better if you receive your item first and pay afterwards?

Here in Holland you have to pay cash when the postman delivers the parcel. But because it's nearly always a surprise when he comes around and what the amount is in fees. And when you don't have enough cash at hand the postman will leave again with your precious parcel. So paying afterwards would suit me a lot better.

Come to think of it: aren't taxes part of the fee? And won't go get in trouble with the treasury if you don't pay the bill?

I really begrude paying parcel force that ****ing "clearance fee"
**** them, tell them to piss off and if they keep hasseling you give them the parcel back, with fresh new contents!

Just had to pay £2.73 Customs then add ****ing £8.00 bastard quid for the PO clearance fee.
Paid up and asked for a receipt - twat said the receipt is the sticker on the box so asked him how the **** can I give a box to my accountant - then said bet you gonna pocket the cash anyway - ****er just smiled at me.

I complain occasionally about how long stuff takes to get to the end of the earth :) But your customs/import tax & clearance fees sound totaly ****. Just like our rugby team at the moment

Interesting thread!

I cant believe i have never been hit by UK customs 8)

I also got to say Ron's idea is awesome if they come knocking give them the parcel back with a shitty loose beater and old cardback. There would be **** all they could say. I wonder what they seller would think if they actually returned it mind lol. I guess you would have to warn them.
