Premier League Discussion Thread Season 2014-15

Yeah, i groaned when Rafa went off on that rant. It probably cost us a dam giod tilt at the title that year. That team never recovered either, most were sold inside 18months. Alonso, Mascherano, Torres (good, Torres), Reina, Sammy, and with Gerrard in his pomp, that was some team!

Draws against Stoke, Hull and West Ham at home cost us the title that year. As for the 'rant' everything he said was 100% correct. ****ing lapdog media for Ferguson twisting it around.

I've been a Utd supporter my whole life...Everyone forgets Moyes spent £75 million on two players that have struggled to make an impact and didn't have the balls to tell Nani he's pants.

From Devon? Bullshit for the latter comment as Butthead has structured nearly all your winning games around ****ing microphone head (Fellani) and if you really think Mata has 'struggled' then there is no hope for you!

As I said in the Villa thread, that's them relegated now. Sure fire certainties.

And as I said a chance for Sherwood to resurrect his mangerial career.

Personally I think he might keep them up this season but he isnt a good long term appointment

Lets see whos right in May :)

   Welcome to the 21rst centuary theslider and the motor car which is how my parents moved from Manchester to Cornwall when I was 4.

I guess from a Liverpool supporters point of view Fellaini and Mata have made an impact just like Torres did for you and won sweat FA.

25 years and counting.

Agreed. Randy Lerner wants rid and doesn't really care any more. Sad.

I'm a Liverpool fan, so I'm biased, but I'd say Torres transfer to Liverpool was a dam sight more successful than either fellaini or mata to Utd. A lot of clubs had looked at Torres when he was at Athletico and hadn't bought him. Liverpool took a chance, and even the most one eyed Manc would have to admit for 12-18 months he was outstanding. Just look at what he did to Vidic at OT that day. Granted he tailed off badly and has never regained that level, but are you actually telling me either Mata or Fellaini have improved since they joined Utd, let alone come close to looking world class!?
That's without pointing out both went for double Torres' fee to Liverpool, and the stupid money Liverpool sold Torres for.

Granted none of the three have won anything major, but there is a difference between not winning a major trophy and being a poor signing. Other wise David Bellion is a "better" signing than Di Maria

My origional quate was David Moyes spent 75million on two player's that have struggled to make an impact at Utd since signing. My point being that Moyes did spend money. Then theslider say's their's no hope for me if I think Fellaini (who has scored 3 goals in 18 months since signing) has struggled to make an impact since joining.  As for Mata it's just not happening for him.

I'll put it another way, Utd haven't signed a forward player that has made any real impact since Fergie signed Van Persie and that is a problem.

Does someone think fellaini has been a good signing? :?
He's not a "bad" player, he's just not what Utd needed and the price they paid for him (2weeks after his cheaper buy out clause expired) was ludicrous.

As for Mata, i do rate him, I think he's a quality player. As you say though, it's just not working out for him at Utd. I'd be a dam shame to see him leave the PL but i just can't see him sticking it out at Utd. He went there specifically to get first team footy. He'll b off back to spain this summer.

On that note, Van Gaal has said Utd need to buy a creative midfielder in the summer? Is that man actually sane? He has Di Maria and Mata, two of the best attacking midfielders in the PL. If he doesn't think Di Maria is creative he should have a look at the stats from La Liga last year, or even watch a game in which Di Maria played. Ditto Mata's stats at Chelsea before Jose "suck the joy out of football" Mourinho returned with his attritional brand of GBH bore-ball.

Seriously, if Moyes or Rafa had said that the media would b all over them.

What Utd really need is two decent centre backs and a manager who knows how to get a team to play together. Ohh and not signing Falcao full time would help.

I can't be arsed with this anymore, every supporter thinks they know best and I'm no different.

Anyway I'm thinking Liverpool v Man Utd Cup final and a chance for the white suits to come out again.

That's as long as Fellaini and Mata produce the goods tonight. :?

The same thought occurred to me, minus the white suits. There will be some abuse flying if that happens

Utd Arsenal in FAC quarter finals then. Heard Utd were poor against Preston. Seen nothing of the game, but saw Phil Neville say rooney dived and he "had to dive"!?

Yeah Utd were poor, Ronney dived and all Utd's goals were contreversial and Van Gaal was to slow to change thing's, but when he did take Falcao off for Young it changed the game. So we finally have a home tie albeit against Arsenal and that's only 1 defeat in last 19 games in all competitions now so not all bad.

Our fixture list gets a lot harder soon so March looks like a make or break month for Utd.

Think those white suits might be coming out again!

Also thought Fellaini made quit a big impact when he was moved into the number 10 role!!!

Yes the First half last night was one of the worst I have seen for many a year. Liteary nothing happened!

There was nother wrong with our Second and Yes Rooney did dive though.

We are through though and do seem to have he mental block over Arsenal at Old Trafford so pretty happy with that

I'm confused. Who is this 'Utd' that everyone keeps referring to? One of these?

Sheffield United
Scunthorpe United
West Ham United
Colchester United
Newcastle United
Peterborough United
Carlisle United
Hartlepool Unined
Manchester Utd
Rotherham United
Southend United
Oxford United
Torquay United
Hereford United
Leeds Utd

Great! Updated list ;)

Cambridge United
Hartlepool United
Sheffield United
Scunthorpe United
West Ham United
Colchester United
Newcastle United
Peterborough United
Carlisle United
Hartlepool Unined
Manchester Utd
Rotherham United
Southend United
Oxford United
Torquay United
Hereford United
Leeds Utd

Match the team from that list to this list. :D

20 League Titles
3 European Cups
1 European Cup Winners' Cup
11 FA Cups
4 League Cups
1 World Club World Cup

Their's only one Utd.

I'm gonna get some stick for this, but I don't care.

Whether it's more trophies, arrogance or simply inflated egos, it doesn't give entitlement to claim the 'Utd' name, especially when they were still Newton Heath when a lot of the others in the list were already 'Utd'.

In terms of Citeh/Utd, it's fine in order to differentiate teams from the same city, similar to Utd/Wednesday or City/Rovers. However, when it comes to 'only one Utd', get over yourselves!

The media have also jumped on the bandwagon since the Sky era, which has also rubbed off on the general public. Watching a Man U game on ITV is embarrassing. The love in from Tyldesley etc is cringe worthy. Thankfully, we haven't had to put up with Champions League coverage this year
