Premier League Discussion Thread Season 2014-15

I hate football lol.

Fair play to Villa, they were definitely the beter side and deserved it. I wish them all the best for the final, i suspect Arsenal will win comfortably but you never know.

Dunno what happened to Liverpool they just didn't turn up. Very very pedestrian. Sideways, forwards, sideways, sideways, forwards, backwards, sideways. By which time Villa had a nice 9 man defensive shield set up and they just waited for Liverpool to try and force it or to give it away. They looked dangerous on the break all day. Or should that be Liverpool shat themselves every time Villa attacked?
Gone is the speed with which Liverpool attacked last year and given they don't have an out and out striker with Sturridge injured they are left trying to feed wonder balls through 10 players or hoping someone comes up with some magic.

Brendan has some work to do this summer.

Ohh and fair play to the wee lad Grealish, he was brilliant. He needs a ****ing hair cut and a man's size pair of shin pads, but he was still about the best player on the pitch.

Still think Arsenal aren't having a run of good luck? so that's two gimme FA cup finals in a row.

I must admit I was really impressed with Spurs yesterday, that's the best I've seen them play for ages, even some decent passing and build ups! Vertonghen still seems to be suffering from some kind of on-going seizure though, I haven't seen him make a straight pass for months!

Villa deserved their win, Liverpool were utter crap, Rodgers is a small minded manager who cant motivate people, and add to that the utter shite strikers he has signed.

Arsenal were crap against Reading. Wenger took a gamble and changed the shape and team. Why play Cazorla as a DM? Even a half decent championship side would have put us out. Ozil and Alexis dragged us through with their individual class.

I don't mean to burst your bubble, but it was only Newcastle. They are the worst side in the league atm. They have a manager who is little more than a puppet and the team have been on the beach for 2 months. Six straight defeats speaks volumes. They are THAT bad, Liverpool made them look **** last week.

He's been playing there for a couple of months. Hasn't done them any harm in the PL. I do agree they looked poor though. They seem to struggle in cup games when they are expected to win comfortably. Is that an omen for a Villa cup win?

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting them to win the league next season because of one good game  But it's the first time for a while (ever?) that I've seen Erikssen, Chadli, Lamela etc playing well together on midfield, there were a few attacks that were world class. Not the usual 'hoof it to Kane and hope he beats everyone' tactics. And the back four are still hopeless.

If I see that Alan Shearer advert again today, I can't be held responsible for my actions.

Never liked him. Not since he kicked Neal Lennon round the head and the FA decided not to charge him as it was accidental. Yeah, he accidentally kicked him round the head whilst on the groud and facing the wrong way. NOTHING what so ever to do with the fact he was, at the time, England captain. Nope, that was just a coinicdence.

Clearly an accident! Isn't that right Mr England captain.

Yeah I remember that, dirty git. He was qualityy though.

As for Man Utd today, the story of the past two seasons we go on a 5 or 6 game winning streack and then loose a couple. Van Gaal needs to come up with a plan B, especially away. :?

Plan B? Replace Van Gaal

Genuine question for you Utd fans. Was yesterday a blip, Utd have been pretty good in the previous three or four games and you had a few missing, or was yeaterday the true Utd (the one we've seen for most of the season) and the good performances were the blip?

As a Liverpool fan, i've seen a false dawn or 57 at Anfield over the last 20 odd years but i'd like to know what Utd fans think.

Ps, Edd and Pete I see what you mean about Spurs defending. I watched the Saints game and that was a proper shambles.

Ohh and Ballotelli starts and Liverpool don't score. What are the odds on on that coincidence!?

That's what I'm afraid of, it being another false dawn. I think Man Utd have improved this season and Micheal Carrick is massive for us, missing him last two matches. You look at Chelsea and I can't see us finishing above them next season, although Van Gaal's style of football will probably suit Champions League better, I really can't see us doing anything in that either. We haven't been to a major final since 2011 and only 2 trophies since then as well albeit both League titles. I don't like the way the club is being run from the top, Fergie was papering over the cracks, we now need new foundations.

I couldn't watch the Spurs v Saints game but can't complain about the result! No chance of top four now so just keen to see some team building over the last few remaining games. Was surprised by the Utd score but how many more times can I say Arsenal are having an easy ride

I'm more excited about the prospect of Bournemouth being in the top flight next season, I grew up there and went to see them regularly while struggling at the bottom of Division 2 in the 90s. What an achievement that would be! hope they don't throw it away tonight.

I think we have progressed.

The football is faster paced, passing is more accurate, but Carrick is a massive miss for us.
Defence is very weak, and we were easily picked off on the break.

There has to be a summer spend, and move out some players.
Champions League was the hope and prayer of Utd fans at the season start, so if we top 4 finish that is a massive improvement.
LGV s style of football will suit CL, but without new blood we wil be static.
Di Maria is an awesome talent, but looked a shadow of himself, Rooney put in a shift as he always does.Shaw was positive, Young was also.

I don't think its a false Dawn, it's a credible improvement that needs building on.

Is that credible improvement on Moyes or an improvement on the dross Utd were playin at the start of thseason?

I thought their build up play was painfully slow, it has been a lot faster recently. Too much sideways, sideways, sideways, backwards. Yesterday was very much like Liverpool and Arsenal when they have a bad day. Masses of possssion but very few real chances created and not much danger for the opposition keeper to worry about. Utd dominated the first 45 but bar a fellaini chance didn't create a huge amount.

Maybe it is, with respect to Everyon, the difference between playing a Spurs, Pool, City who are expected to attack you, and playing Everton who are content to say "there you go, you have 70% possession, we'll hit you on the break."
Maybe that's not actaully an insult, that's exactly what that wanker Mourinho would do. Maybe i havent given Martinez enough credit.

Ohh and if Utd want Ballotelli, i'll happily drive him down myself. No need for a transfer fee just take him!

Balotelli is basically a liability, never understand why you'd want him.

Tonight's result was a bit of a surprise really, having said that Bruce has Hull well drilled, looked a fair result over the game.

As I said, if Utd have CL status, then that has to be seen as improvement.
