Premier League 2019/2020 Thread

Nice to see Arsenal actually looking like we can play a bit again. Fingers crossed it's not a one off

I reckon that Arsenal result is the beggining of the end for OGS at Man Utd, can see Wolves and City knocking us out of both cups in the next 2 weeks and then we have Norwich, Burnley and Liverpool in the league. What can go wrong?!

And now Kane's out for months with a torn hamstring, it's really not been a good few weeks for Spurs! Will be lucky to finsh mid table this season.

That injury has been in the post for a long time. He has played the bulk of Spurs games over the last few years as well as most of England's last summer and this season. He has been due an injury for a while. I am amazed he lasted this long without one.

Whoever draws Liverpool in the FAC will have a very cushy draw as there isn't a chance in hell Jurgen will field anything even close to full strength side. It will be pure Carling/Carabo cup.

**** me Everton. If you can't beat that Liverpool team.....

Lol mighty indeed.

I continue to be underwhelmed by the job Jose is doing at Spurs. I wasn't expecting miracles, but I was expecting a fair bit more than we have seen so far.

Typical that Kane is out for that game, you would have beaten them with him fit.

I think Liverpool have three fit midfielders, Henderson, Ox (just back from injury) and Lallana. Then it's kids time.

Harry Kane out til April. Surely got to be one of the most injury-prone players of all time? And certainly the most injury-prone yet somehow regular top scorer! We did quite well last time he was out, but not sure we'll be so lucky this time

Ehhh I give you one Daniel Sturridge. Superb player, when fit, but in his entire career he has managed one season without serious/long term injury.

Honorary mention to Darren "sick note" Anderton.

Pfft....if it's a game of injury Top Trumps that you want may I present Monsieur Abou Diaby for your consideration. 40 odd injuries in 10 years

Darren "sick note" Anderton

Very good, I like that, and also the other nickname I've heard him given - Tampon.... 'cos he was always 1 week in, 3 weeks out

I'm not going to say Spurs should have won that game, but they certainly could have done and arguable deserved a draw. How the hell did Lo Celso miss that tap in, the angle to miss it was far narrower than that to score it. Despite the crowd's frustration, I thought Jose's tactics were bang on, you've got to know when you're second best and that's something Poch never admitted, hence the amount of games he lost 4/5/6 nil.

Everything's going Liverpool's way this season, they're doing a 2016 Leicester.

I agree, Spurs had at least a couple of great chances to score against Liverpool, but annoyingly fluffed their lines where Firmino didn't. It's the result I was expecting before kickoff, but I am at least pleased that Spurs weren't completely outplayed for the whole game, and were in fact well on top towards the end of it as Liverpool seemed to tire.

We have a winner

Strange old game tonight.

On the first half, Pool deserved to win, and prob by more, they were so comfortable but just couldn't finish it off. On the second half, Spurs probably deserved something as Pool got really sloppy. How yer man/Lo Celso missed that chance i will never know. That CB spuds had on debut looked half decent. You might have found a player there.

I really can't stand Jose and his joyless football though. He drags everything down and turns it into a game of chess. There is a reason you don't see TV stations fighting to show live chess. IT'S ****ING DULL.

I get that going toe to toe with this Liverpool side would probably have resulted in defeat but I couldn't watch that eye gouging shite every week. I hope for Spurs fans' sake that he doesn't do that against every decent side you play. His track record suggests he will.

A bit sad to see Eriksen getting booed when subbed. I understand why. But he has been a great player for Spurs over the years. In any other walk of life we wouldn't begrudge someone running down their contract to go and get a "better" or just different job. But in footy we some how expect players to all love our club as much as we do. Don't get me wrong if I was a Spurs fan
I would probably feel different. I wasn't impressed with Suarez flirting with any other club who showed an interest. It is just strange that we hold footballers up to different standards than we would hold ourselves or our work colleagues up to. In our day to day lives 90% of us would leave our current jobs if we were offered £10k a year more for the same roll in a different company. Yet we expect footballers who are offered £10k+ a week more, often at bigger/better clubs, to turn it down. Or to sign a new contract so our club can get a transfer fee. It is weird.
Though I freely admit I can't hear Steve McManaman's voice without being reminded of him doing a Bosman at Pool, and I did laugh at Emre Can not making Juve's CL squad. Us football fans are weird.

Just watching MOTD, I didn't even realise the throw-in leading to Liverpool's goal should have gone to Spurs, feel slightly robbed now.
