i may upset some collectors here but -iam i the only one who thinks that the polish figures look like they were made by the "happy sunshine bus tour", they just look wrong... i know that it was a poor country in the eightys and they all lived on cabbages and vodka but for **** sake did the workers in the factory work blindfolded and have no sleep for 48 hours before starting the shift....while on acid

You mean Bootlegs?

Damn fine toys and highly interesting to collect.
I collect modern day carded figs mostly from China - they are rip-offs of Hasbro figs, but some are so bad they are brilliant
:D

yeah bootlegs.. how easy would it be to get a vintage figure and cheap paint to rip off a rip off !

first youd need to disfigure an original over heat ( gas cooker ) then get steve wonder to paint it...........hay presto a rare looking figure ( or bootleg  )....

Polish figures are made from a different type of material so I doubt you could customise a vintage figure to look like one !!

They must be easy to make though, here's how;

1) Buy a regular but C2ish figure from ebay
2) Drive over it a few times
3) Kick it around the garden a fair bit
4) Lob it against a wall for an hour or so
5) Grab all your spare paint from the shed and take turns at lobbing a different colour at it.
6) Leave to dry
7) Voila a bootleg 8)

You guys have never held a bootleg or even seen one up close - I can tell.
You can mock bootlegs all you like, but once you see one, you find there is a certain interest in them.

struck a nerve boys!

its true, once you've held one you are never the same......its something to do with all the lead i think!

I've seen a few but they don't do a lot for me so I've never owned one.

I can see why they are of interest, especially if you have figure focus. You have to admit though the finishes on most are a bit rough

don't you boil them for an hour as well so they go a bit funny?

Ah missed that stage, you obviously have a bit more experience than me

Also for added authenticity as well as boiling you could add biker scout arms to every figure type, even Yoda

:D  Nice!

I'm with Han, I think they look like shite. BUT, each to their own. If people wanna collect them then fair play and good luck to them. I think it's interesting to see all the different aspects of SW collecting out there. If it wasn't for some of the boot leg collectors posting photos I wouldn't even know they existed!
Gotta say, I don't see the attraction in variants either. BUT again, each to their own!

in the next coming weeks iam going to have a crack at the all new collectors "bootlegbootleg" there rare as rocky horse shite as there is none in existance ... well until next week !!

Han - thats been done before.
Can't remember the name but there was a series of figures done which were (I think) simply repaints that some guy did - stuck them on a home made card and passed them off as some rare find of bootlegs.

I am an avid bootleg collector because they are so ugly. I think they are awesome! I have over 200 different vintage bootlegs. The reason I got into them was because I got so sick of looking at the same old Kenner production pieces all the time.

Dont get me wrong, i am only having fun as i too really like seeing them. It is an aspect of SW that i never knew existed until members on here started to mention them and post pictures. I think Craigs collection of bootlegs is great. Collecting is definitely each to their own, there are collectors who hate AFA but i am an avid loose AFA collector.

This isn't RS and I don't really ever feel the need to slag people off for expressing their opinions! :D

UNLESS they are United fans trying to talk about football!
