Plastic sheets behind figures MOC

A certain thread on RS got me wondering about the following.
So somethimes there is a plastic sheet behind a figure and somethimes not.
The plastic sheets are normally behind figures with capes, assuming this was done to prevent the capes from sticking to the cardback or have color transfer to the cape from the cardback.
Now i know this is not consistent, as there is not a plastic sheet behind every with a cape, why is isn't this consistent?

I mean some 12 backs Leia", Ben's, Sandpeople,... have the plastic sheet whilst others don't?

Also then i noticed i have a stormtrooper with a plastic sheet behind him, well it's not in very good, it's partially under the bubble seal on the right side, so i don't know if it was placed intentionally behind the figure. It could make sense in some way as the stormtrooper is a white figure and may have been done to prevent the white figure from discoloring from the red background?

I know it's hard to see in the picture, but you if you look closely, you can the plastic sheet is in at an angle and partially under the seal On the right Side, and sticking out off the bubble on the right side, almost at the top right corner.
Also the sheet has a little curve up by the stormtroopers hand on the right side, so you can see the sheet glare there aswell.

Does anyone else has any Moc's with figures without a cape that have a plastic sheet behind them?

I can't quite see the plastic sheet in this photo so hard to compare with my own.

My Luke Stormie POTF has a plastic sheet behind the bubble too. I was a little concerned when I first saw it. I can't remember if my other POTF MOCs have the same sheet but can check tonight. Interesting.

Yeah i know it isn't the best picture (snapped it quickly with my phone last night), i will see if i can provide a better picture this evening.

But since your Luke Stormie has it aswell, this is again a white figure, so it would confirm my theorie about protecting the white plastic figures from the cardback colors...

i only ever found one stormtrooper moc with a plastic sheet behind the figure i think it was a 41 back maybe, it was defo a kenner though on a hong kong card i think.

I had always thought the plastic sheet was only for figures with capes and Stormtroopers, but my childhood Death squad Commander had one, although the 12 back DSC I own now does not. But as we know, mistakes were often made so many figures that should have had the sheet did not, and vice-versa.
Was this unique to Kenner and Palitoy, or do others (Meccano, Harbert etc) share this feature?
Anyway, here's my Palitoy 12 back Stormie with sheet (damn hard to photograph!)

Ok...I am going to throw a theory out there. I have seen this plastic sheet on various figures. I think Kenner quality found that many figures were getting scuffed from the cardback and they probably received complaints from Parents. So partially thru the manufacturing process they started inserting this as a quality measure. As we all know communication sucks in most organizations and due to the fact more than one plant was manufacturing these the change over at various plants would have not been timed at exactly the same point.....so thus the reason for there sometimes being a plastic insert and sometimes not. Also I have seen them sealed under the bubble edge too...once again a manufacturing problem as that damn thing slipped around before sealing.

I hope this question is not due to the big TT fiasco.....these are legit and so far so many people are thinking they have fakes and just ripping them open...I could ****ing puke.

No i did not ask this question to doubt the authenticy off moc with or without sheets, this is a legit feature, just trying to figure out why some figures have these and why others did not. Not even talking about at what point they startted adding them, but more in the context of what made them decide wich particular figures gets the sheet and wich one doesn't.

I for example opened a beater Glasslite Leia once (almost 7-8 years ago) with the thought to have a complete mint GL Leia, only to find out that she was really stuck with her to the cardback. I had a hard time getting her off and she had permanent stains on the cape from the cardback that i could not get removed.

So maybe Kenner got complaints about this issue allready back in the day and that's why the plastic sheet was inserted.
But i thought this was only done at figures with capes and seeing others out there without capes having this, riddles the question why, like i said for white figures, i could have been done to prevent color transfer from the carback, but Ree-Yees from AJ's example is neither a white figure nor does it have a Cape, some goes for the Luke X-wing....

I just went On checked all my 12 Backs and it turns out 6 off them have the plastic sheet behind them.
So we have the four with capes Ben, Vader, Leia and Tusken Raider (i don't own a VC Jawa to check that one) and then there is the Stormtrooper and DSC, the other 6 have no plastic sheet.
