PL 2015-16 Chat

Depends what Liverpool turn up.
Good Liverpool, it could be a very good game. **** Liverpool, and Spuds will win comfortably.

I can see Leicester and Spurs loosing this weekend, then having to listen to all the pundits bang on about how the title race is wide open again. Leicester win and Spurs draw I reckon. If Aston Villa beat Chelsea, that will make my weekend.

Enjoyed the Liverpool Spurs game, it was a good watch and I think a draw was fair. Both teams had opportunities to score more. 1 point doesn't really suit either team, but I guess it's better than losing.

Have to say now if Leicester win tomorrow I can't see anyone catching them. They can loose 2 games and still win the league as it stands. Only having to win 4 out of last 6 games would be done for me.

I missed it, but the "Goals on Sunday" highlights did make it look like Liverpool had more chances. Albeit, bar Sturridge's one, they didn't look like sitters.
I agree a point doesn't really suit either side, but at the same time I suspect both managers would probably have settled for that pre game.

Leicester's title to lose now. What a story that is. Although, I suspect the media will flog it to death, and then continue to keep flogging it, for years to come.

Ohh and 20th anniversary of the first 4-3 between Liverpool and Keegan's Newcastle today. What a game that was. Scary that it was 20 years ago.

What a game between West Ham and Arsenal, I'm sure the Hammers fans will be gutted as the disallowed goal seemed to be fine. Suits Leicester and Spurs very well. Looks like West Ham are the real deal, I thought they were just having a good run. If only Carrol was that good more often he'd still be in the England squad.

If his name was Wayne Rooney he would still be in the England squad.

Watching the Villa Bournemouth game, I don't think I've ever seen such a toxic atmosphere at a stadium before. Booing and heckling their own players, negative banners everywhere, and now the fans are walking out after 74 minutes so it's half empty. I understand the fans are frustrated by their poor form, but they're really not helping. How is a team supposed to play well with no home support? I think the fans are as much to blame as the players and management are at the moment.

Couldn't agree more.. its a disgrace

That offside decision was abysmal. It wasn't even close. The lino was in line and both Hammers were a yard onside. The Ozil goal was MUCH closer and it was given. Some of the decisions we've had lately have been awful- they say it evens out over the season, but it really hasn't this season. 4th game in a row we've had a shocking decision. Everton, Chelsea (X2), Palace and now L'Arse.

On a positive note, Carroll had a stormer- was vitually unplayable.

It's a measure of how well we're doing though that we're disappointed to only get a point against Arse and Chelsea

The disallowed goal too, Carroll was doing nothing wrong in my opinion, West Ham been robbed of two points yesterday.

Running out of games, but I'm still buzzing about how Spurs are playing... never seen such a positive goal difference from a Spurs side!
3-0 is a massive result
Seven points, five games... a big dream, but gotta keep dreaming!

I think Leicester will do it now, but I agree it's great to see Spurs winning and deserving to. A few seasons ago when we still had Bale I enjoyed the success but being honest knew we were a one man team (cough Suarez Liverpool cough) but this year I can't really fault anybody in the team, and as you say the amazing goal difference proves it. Very optimistic about next season even if we don't win this year, and I dare say a top four finish is pretty much guaranteed now. Although if anybody can screw it up, it's Spurs :)

I think if Spurs can stay alive going into the last 3 games they will do well and you never no then, with Leicester playing Man Utd, Everton and Chelsea in their last 3.

Today Spurs sent a message out to Leicester and West Ham next for them. I mean Leicester are big favourites, but their not exactly blowing teams away.

As for Man Utd, I have personally had enough of Van Gaal and he should go, he's not going to improve the way we play next season or increase our chances of winning the league, he's had two seasons and it's been hard work watching them the whole time.

The board have made two bad appointments which the average joe blogs could see were bad choices, theirs probably 3 managers out their who's egos are bigger than the club itself and only one is available this summer.

I haven't seen the Arsenal WH game so can't comment. Andy Carroll is a great plan B for England. He's not the most mobile but if you're looking for a big target man when you need a goal, there's not many better. Sadly, I'm not England will play that way, or will want to take him to the Euros. Why would you when you could take Wayne Rooney!?

I thought that Spurs Utd game was a bit disappointing. Ok, that may be partly due to the LVG effect where he seems determined to suck any enjoyment out of any game his side play, but neither side looked that great in the first half*. Though Spuds did come into in to it more as the half wore on. Second half, that 6 minutes spell settled it. I don't think I can ever remember a Fergy side shipping 3 in 6 minutes. That's just not something you associate with Man U. You expect them to be the ones scoring 3 in 6 minutes. Fair play to Spurs though, they deserved it. That third goal was pure class. From Utd's point of view, I'm not actually sure there was a huge amount they could do to stop it. It was one of those where you just have to stand back and admit it was a great goal, fair dos.

Leicester now guaranteed CL footy. Well played boys. Fingers crossed you keep that team and the morale together and next season isn't the antithesis of this. Even if it is, I doubt Leicester fans will care too much. I suspect most would have settled for mid-table obscurity in August.
Spurs are probably too many point behind Leicester now, or are running out of games to close the gap, but fair play to Spurs, that's a great team and a club going in the right direction. Unlike Utd, who appear to be determined to undo all the good work Fergy did. Utd fans used to laugh at Fergy's claim he knocked Liverpool off their ****ing perch. I always disagreed, I though Graham Souness did it. Regardless, Moyesy, LVG and Ed Woodward seem to be determined to go one better and take Utd into mid-table obscurity. Given the financial resources at their disposal and the time they had to find a replacement for Fergy, there are serious serious questions to be asked about the running of that club. More so if they replace LVG with Giggsy or the ultra short term Mourinho (just wait until you see the mess he leaves).
Still, Villa and Palace next for Utd, they'll win both of them and LVG will be bought a few more weeks before they lose to Leicester and the circle starts again. Kinda like Arsenal and their choking/"mental strength" BS.

* Maybe due to Utd forgetting where London was.

Giggs is a good point - what value does he bring? He was a great player, but that doesn't mean he has any idea what he's doing on the other side of the fence. Does he just sit there to keep the Utd fans happy? I appreciate he's part of the clubs history but imagine having David Seaman on the Arsenal coaching staff, the past is the past and clubs need to look forward.

Their are two ways of looking at the Giiggs situation, the way that's been mentioned and then you have the viewpoint that what if Guardiola had never been given the chance at Barcelona? I had the same view point a couple years ago why should Giggs get the chance? But shurely it's what a club like Man Utd are all about giving young players and managers a chance. Giggs wasn't just a good player he's got a good footballing brain as well, which is one of the reasons he was able to play into his 40's. Not sure if he will get the chance but half of me thinks just get it over and done with. He would play more entertaining football than Van Gaal, but anyone would I spose.

For me Giggsy is already dammed by association with LVG.

He's his assistant, so if LVG is listening to him, or he has an input, he's at least pratly to blame for Utd's current bastardisation of the game of football. If on the other hand LVG ignores him, that's hardly a glowing endorsement of his ability and thus he can hardly be considered suitable for the Managers job.

Let's not forget in his four games in charge after Moyesy got sacked, he managed to lose to a Gus Poyet managed Sunderland side. Just imagine what Guardiola or the like would do to him!?

Thank god I missed all but the last 15 mins of that **** game.
What a borefest that must have been.
