Picturegate on RS

As one of the people speaking out about this I apologize if I'm annoying you, I just want clarification.

But this really does matter to me and has nothing to do with Joe getting banned. I think it really is getting too much heat and I don't care which way it goes. One way I'll keep adding pics to my limelight the other way I'll update my pics elsewhere. Rebelscum isn't the only ball game in town so why would I post them there when I can post here or on TIG and not have to worry about ownership issues.

I just wish we would get an answer and be done with it. I really feel sorry for Mike M having to deal with all of this after Philip cut and run.

Kevin - I undertsand where you are coming from - and I agree that it is a poor show from RS Managment that they haven't resolved this issue - I just think that there are a number of people making more of this than they need to

The larger issue of this(Copyright ownership of your photos/work) is soo far beyond having anything to do with me. For those that dislike me for whatever reasons (real or imagined) if the same thing were happening to you. You had posted copywritten pics that you owned, and had/have future plans for their use in publication, with NO notice of waiving ownership rights of said pictures by posting them mentioned in the sites TOS before hand. Deciding to leave said site and AFTER you deleted the links to those pictures, and the information concerning them, out of spite(not for any infraction of the sites stated rules), the site owner permanently banned you and then "restored" the content to his site. You'd be upset.
I've already been in contact with my lawyer locally, as well as on the phone for about an hour so far today with the legal dept at Flickr/Yahoo.Both are assuring me that the more he fights it the more I'll win if it goes to court(I don't want or care about the money aspect just my pics removed from his site to be honest) Just the fact that none of the other photos from other users that were deleted have been "restored" shows that Philip is making this fight personal.

And yes I see the humor and irony that the pics that he is stealing are of unlicensed/unauthorized SW product.

I think it has far less to do with me or Philip, and more to do with the overall community and the ownership of our photos. It may not be an issue on this forum if the answer of photo ownership is answered in the TOS, but unfortunately it is an issue involving everyone that has ever posted their collection pics on RS where there is no ownership statement about user added content, and is worried about being able to take and use their photographs if they decide to move on. Some of you obviously don't care, and that's your decision.

I totally understand your point Joe. I can understand why with a collection like yours as such a fantastic resource for all things bootleg you should be very protective about your images. I can also understand why anyone might feel violated over the possible use of their limelight images without their consent.

I personally think right now, there is too much "dredging" going on and issues that happen on other forums are spilling over onto here in quite an unpleasant way. Its not your fault and I am certainly pointing no fingers here but sometimes the cross fertilisation of forums can be a bad thing. If issues happen on other boards then let them stay there. If people are members on that board and have pics of their collection there and they can see what is going on, then it should be sorted out there and not discussed openly here as it seems to cause yet more friction.

well if you only use an online provider just break the links by renaming your pictures.

if you uploaded then to RS and you want to fish through and delete them just do it and dont announce it.

me personally...RS can pin my pictures up on their wall or shove them up their ass, i have no real care lol

some people feel different, maybe some people have posted professional copyright material ect, but if you dont copyright them and watermark with your copyright then i cant see there is much you can do, and i cant see judge judy giving a **** lol.

I feel the majority of the vintage community (particularly RS) has become an insipid, miserable, depressing and negative entity. As the black eyed pees once said:

"where is the love?"

I didn't sign up to these boards to watch people fall out with each other. I joined them to talk about toys. Honestly it's just becoming depressing :?
The politics side of collecting has become bigger than the toys and that is total bull ****. Should joeY have been banned? Probably not. Should it tear the community into two sides? No. Will this dent RS's reputation? Undoubtedly. Seriously though, if you don't like it then don't participate in the site. Simples

The vintage community needs something positive to inspire it... I'm thinking a competition is in order :wink:
