To clarify, it's the sliced-top example with cloth cape figure.
I don't recall what I paid - nothing crazy

Nice to know it went to someone on here. It was a really nice example as I remember and is there any chance you could post a picture of it on here for us to see?

It would be great to see again and as I've said before, it's the one thing I really wish I'd bid on. Just please remember me if you ever do want it to go to a good home Graham. :)

Sure.

There's also pics of it Jason posted in this thread - with the blue background

Thanks for that - Ian

That's a great sight to see Graham! :D

Thanks for sharing the pictures with us, I think your VCJ style bubble looks great, especially the fact that it's sliced so there's no damage around the bubble. It's even still got the plastic sheet behind the figure and looks to have the selotape in there! I'm pretty sure that a clear plastic back (like the cardboard backed one), doesn't exist on a Palitoy 12 back but have you ever seen one?

Very nice! You should really get a vinyl cape to go in that sliced bubble though! :)

Have added some side on pics of the R2D2 bubble to the guide:-

The difference in size between the Jawa and R2D2 figures shows why the folded yellow cardboard insert was needed for Jawa inside the R2D2 bubble.

The Palitoy VCJ bubble is the same shape as the Kenner VCJ one. There were 2 other bubbles used for the Jawa 12 back run on both Kenner and Palitoy, the R2 style one and the one with a slanted front (when looking from the side).

I contacted the ausralian seller (whom I'm not sure where he was from the UK and Oz), about the item and I know he paid a fair amount for it when he bought it. I didn't ask for any real information about it as at the time I always thought these things existed due to the fact I had one as a child (although there has been debate about if that was a Kenner one like the orange snake Yoda I had when it was first realeased in the UK).
I'm not sure who won that auction but it would be nice to hear about it if it was someone on here.

Ian

Thanks for the info Ian, learn something new everyday :)

I'm pretty sure I sold the cut bubble one to Jason.

I purchased it in Australia but from a british born dealer who travelled the world wheeling and dealing. He knew his items so a Jawa switch possibly happened for profit. He had other non Jawa figures like this with the figure replacement all sliced open at the top.

Thought a swap was likely.

Not sold to this Jason!

:)

Sorry - I might have the person I sold it to mixed up. I can't recall for certain.

That sounds like the one I must have seen on ebay. Good to know the person who won it is on here as well as the now currant owner. It's a small world and it is nice to see it again after all this time. Maybe the original seller never had the VCJ with it and just put a cloth one in to sort of complete it, shame it wasn't a large eyed one at the least.

Cheers for passing the info on Paul.

Ian

Hi Paul,
Thanks for chiming in.
It was me that bought this sliced-top example from you, around two years ago.

Yes, it was previously on Ebay. I remember seeing the auction that Paul won too.
