Palitoy Royalty - the men who built the Death Star

The poster is of a similar design to the double sided posters which were included in the big boxed toys but it also seems likely that toy shops were sent them too to hand out to customers.

I can imagine that the poster was included with the Death Star and the other toys which were part of the 1980 range. I doubt if Palitoy would have included all of the Star Wars branded items in the poster and not have made them available in 1980.

The Empire Strikes Back had a huge question mark over it, so it seems that Palitoy kept selling its previously released items in the range in 1980 and only released the original X-Wing Fighter in an ESB box. As we know the original twenty action figures were initially kept in their Star Wars packaging in 1980.

Interesting to know who owns this lovely poster, Ian. I'd like to find one myself!

Craig.

That poster really does look to be in the same condition as mine (well lover :D ), although I know it's not mine as I've never taken a picture of it. I have seen these for sale on ebay though and I'm sure there was one for sale a little while ago........here it is -

I'm sure it won't be too long before one presents itself.

Ian

Oh, okay. I got the wrong impression from your post. You have an example of the said poster, not the actual one in the picture.

I'll keep a look-out for it on eBay and elsewhere. For sure.

The rarest Palitoy poster seems to be this one, which is another big wish of mine.

Craig.

Now I'm slightly confused. The catalogue that came with the Death Star is the one in your attachment from your previous post (not the one shown here). That catalogue is also the one in my link that sold on ebay a few days ago.

As for the poster from your last post (the one also pictured here), that one's truly magnificent and I'm not surprised it ended up going for so much money on the last two occasions one's been up for sale. I'd also love one of these but it's way out of my budget and I'm thinking we're not going to see another for a long while now (although as these can fetch such a high sum it wouldn't surprise me if there are a few people across the country going through their lofts right now trying to find theirs!).

Let's face it though, any poster with that Palitoy logo on is always going to be a winner. :D

Awesome going Spoons. I bet the AM original art would be highly sought after...

reckon so Grant, doesn;t look like its going anywhere though :)

just listened to the SWFUK podcast, Dave Tree talks a little bit about Bob on that. With what ODB said earlier, Dave must have his details already for a future FF

Wow this is fantastic. This is the first time I have seen a thread about people who did make the toys and boxes that we are collecting, very cool

Really made my day seeing the AM artwork and it was fascinating listening to him, there's a interview online I'll dig out and post the link later

I did post up he would be at Roll Out Roll Call last year, but no one cares if it doesn't have Star Wars labeled all over it ;)

I care and caring is half the battle.

Spoons, was you the lad asking about little big man and battle brigade?, if so it was a pleasure meeting you

Not me - I was mostly asking about the Death Star and Capture Copter I was with my young son and and had a camera round my neck

ODB at the back there in the pub. If there's any fans of Dr Who here, the guy on the left hand side is one of the figure sculptors for Character Options.

ODB, I may have to put up the video of us drunk in the shop opening up sealed cases of Palitoy toys ..... and no, I'm not making it up, this did really happen .... drunk.

Dave – You should have Micronauts and Cyborg at Roll Out Call. I could fill half a hall with the stuff. I'm sure that plenty of people will have things they can bring along.
