The poster is of a similar design to the double sided posters which were included in the big boxed toys but it also seems likely that toy shops were sent them too to hand out to customers.
I can imagine that the poster was included with the Death Star and the other toys which were part of the 1980 range. I doubt if Palitoy would have included all of the Star Wars branded items in the poster and not have made them available in 1980.
The Empire Strikes Back had a huge question mark over it, so it seems that Palitoy kept selling its previously released items in the range in 1980 and only released the original X-Wing Fighter in an ESB box. As we know the original twenty action figures were initially kept in their Star Wars packaging in 1980.
Interesting to know who owns this lovely poster, Ian. I'd like to find one myself!
