What are those retro kenner alien figures like? Ive been interested in those.

I really like the alien figures and have a set on blue cards that I've kept unopened but really wanted to display them loose so bought the cheaper black card back set as well. I'm really glad I did bust them out (even though I was careful opening them so as to keep the card backs in good shape for a potential reseal in years to come :lol: ), as the look even better to me loose in hand and have been really well put together. As these are supposed to have come from the original moulds (some debate on that I seem to remember?), they really do feel and look vintage and I do rate Super 7 highly for their quality control and customer service. There's also a second wave coming out with some nice additions.

On Plantman's note I also didn't have an ED-260 growing up but loved this figure and packaging. They're still fairly cheap to pick up, even sealed, although I've no idea why they changed the name from 209 to 260.

Cheers Michael. Yes it is a vintage Mego superman that i picked up in the states for $24. He didn't have an emblem so I did have to go the repro route to complete it but these seem to be always missing unless you buy a sealed/boxed one or drop a lot of cash for a loose one. I have several Mego's but don't collect them in a big way epect for the fist fighter ones of which I now how all the UK editions and the US Joker one pictured here.

It's nice to mix things up now and then and I have a few boxed items that didn't make the cabinet this time around, maybe some future pictures to come when I get the chance.

That's a great selection there Michael, it'll be like Christmas day when you finally get those boxes unpacked!

Good idea to rotate the collection with your son as well (even if the wives aren't so sure, I tend to find buying them shoes goes a long way).

love seeing these other toy lines, but most are a bit after my childhood - although I did have a he-man and used to collect ghostbusters.

I've been entering a monthly photo comp on an Action Man forum (more my childhood) and thought I'd share my entries here. Its a tough comp :shock:

I always wanted the Parachute Action Man.

The Dinghy shot is the best IMO.

We are lucky to have some great hobbies to keep us amused, would have loved to have been involved the the AM photoshoot.

I used to love AM growing up and it's nice to see that detonator again that's in the dingy. The one problem with AM was always his fingers breaking off I found and it's a shame they couldn't have used a slightly tougher material for them. Small complaint though as you could get some amazing accessories and vehicles for them.

Cheers Ian - the hands are terrible now, many of mine are reproduction as originals are far too brittle to use (slightly different views on repros in the VAM world but just as tricky as SW repros).

You can repair hands that are only slightly gone by using the bleaching techniques for stormtroopers but I've not tried it

After sliding my action man down bits of string he soon developed a groove inside his fingers where he was hanging on for his life, it soon put a stop to that game

the solid hands are still pretty good Chubb - apart from those with string damage :wink:

Cheers Grant, my brother had the SAS parachutist. He went out of the bedroom window and was never the same. The crack of his legs hitting the back yard is still with me

I remember one Christmas, early 70s ( :roll: yes I'm that old) I got an action
Man, eagle eyes, gripping hands I think. I got the Tank and Jeep, then the
Royal Coldstream guard outfit, the deep sea diver outfit, and frogman
I was a happy kid that Christmas!

It was the rubber AM hands ones I had growing up that didn't seem to last very long. I can imagine they haven't aged well but I'm sure there are still plenty out there. It sounds like they got worse though.

Sorry Ian - got you confused with JuniorChubb somehow. Those rubber hands are terrible but good ones do survive, you pay a premium though

Thanks Michael - the deep sea diver is a classic and on my want list. I'd like a frogman too but I think the rubber doesnt survive well. The solid plastic of SW has lasted very well in comparison
