Other Vintage Collections

Joe: Nice Mumm-ra, so the one you've got is the one pictured on the boxes?
I loved the old show, have been watching the new one too, but I think the animation is sloppy, the design of the characters are top notch though, but I don't really like how they're not from another planet this time...
I got myself the Collectors Ed. Lion-O for Christmas, and that one's awesome.

ODB: love the g.i.joes, but where is the OG StormShadow? :p
I've been thinking of getting back my old collection, my old neighbour has them, and he's stopped collecting, he actually wanted to sell them the last time we spoke, may give him a call soon :p

Edit: Just went through a box with lots of paperwork and books, and found this, by no means a recent buy, but I had totally forgot that I had this, a nice little surprise :)

Hey man thanks! Well it might be might not be, I will have to check (not got a good resolution pic of either box at the moment) The figure is a hardcopy (http://theswca.com/lexicon/hardcopy.html)

This write up explains a bit better - http://theswca.com/index.php?action=disp_item&item_id=50955

Hardcopies are one of the more popular three-dimensional figure prototypes with pre-production collectors. They may serve in one of the following capacities once created: tooling master, paintmaster, or display/photography sample. The detail found on hardcopies surpasses that of their production counterparts, since they are crafted from a silicone mold. Silicone molds are created directly from the original sculpting.

So you see, many hardcopy figures were painted to look like the final product, ok'd by the bigwigs and then photographed for use on figure packaging/playset packaging while the figure was going into full scale production.

Vintage Star wars Hardcopies are mega bucks so this was a good way to own an original 80's toy line hardcopy from one of the more well known 80's toy lines!

I will have to get around to watching the new cartoon sometime just to see if I like it or not, sometimes the original is a bit cheesy especially with snarf :p

Wow Todd looks great! Nice photos as well, which for SWF members is a miracle!

That's a great big lot of Americana you have there Todd, Lovin the Smokey and the Bandit gear as well as the EK stuff. Great set up!

Do you really need to have a sign telling people not to spit?

Well it is America and with my friends and family...I have to state no spitting.

Hell yeah Todd! you brought back some sweet memories for me with this lot, I used to have the evil knievel wind up stunt cycle, I loved it to bits & used to play with it all the time, sadly with the noise it made being wound up it drove my mother to distraction & on my birthday she wrapped it up for the pass the parcel, you have no idea how much I wanted to win it back, gutted I was I tell you gutted!.

Nice display of some vintage goodness, thanks for sharing!

Not sure if anyone else has seen these but saw one on ebay the other night and liked the look of it:

I've had to stop myself from buying GB toys Nick! I just can't go down the modern path! I refuse! LOL

Oh, yeah Joe, I completely agree.... ordinarily I wouldn't have bought this but it just looked so good and it was a decent price so I thought what the hell! The mrs wasn't best pleased but she likes GB and everyone loves Bill Murray :D

I think they look great!

Aussie Nick over on RS had the four figures from this series in prototype form for trade once, against my better judgement (and my wallet) I even asked how much they were worth to him to try and buy them!

GB and me ..it's like an addiction :(

For sure, but I deserved it as I never put the dam thing down & it was way noisy being wound up, not the only thing that was wound up either judging my mum's reaction  - should have stuck to using it outside.

The sculpt on these figs are top notch, but can't get my head around the plastic electric thingys, they seem to come with all modern figs of all series,
to portray firing, blasts etc. Thinks it looks tupid :(
Can't kids imagine that stuff happening nowadays? I know I did with my old stuff :p

the new matty collector line of ghostbusters is really cool, i collect the he man ones, the quality and articulation are brilliant, i wish i had got the ghostbusters now, they did a nice ghost trap too.
