Other Vintage Collections

Don't know if this counts as other vintage collection's, I also collect breweriana and have a fondness for whisky water jugs and vintage ashtrays.

Haha, my mom & dad had that exact same jug in our hallway on a cupboard back in the day.

Got a few smoking related as well, not very PC these days.

I think everyone's parents or grandparents had at least one in their drinks cabinets back in the 70's/80's

Probably the most obscure and random vintage purchase iv'e ever bought, a full set of West Midlands police collector cards.

These are from 1990 I think, police officers used to carry these around with them and hand them out to kids for them to collect, the idea was to improve relations between kids and the police by giving them an incentive to approach them, so they don't feel scared to approach them and tell them things / ask questions. I remember being about 8 in the school playground and we used to all run up to officers walking past and they used to hand us some cards through the fence. One of the motto's on the back of one of the cards made me laugh which says "Never ever accept gifts from strangers"... and there we were being encouraged to approach and accept these collector card gifts from strangers.

Been looking for these for a couple of years now so happy to add them to my trading card collection, there used to be a cardboard collector folder for them which i'm gutted the seller never had, so the hunt goes on.

My brother made me laugh, he said the policeman in the portrait pic looks like Dick Jones from Robocop.

Just got these in this week all unplayed with and in nice mint condition, 3 vintage matchbox cars and 1 vintage Corgi. The 2 loose cars with the fact cards are from single pack sealed 'blind bags' that I remember buying, so i'm still on the lookout for a sealed one. Love these things! :D

Yeah when you're an 80's / 90's kid it was always about Ferrari's and Porsche's, and not much else!

That's well cool. You should stick a photo of your AM collection in the other Vintage collections thread Andy, would love to see that! Been looking at a lot of AM lately.

As requested by Andy here's my Action Man collection but I'm not sure this can compete with Madonna

Nice collection of Action Man Spoons. Wish I had kept mine, but as was tradition back in the day when we out grew stuff then they would go to my cousins

Did anybody else's mum used to give your old toys to cousins, neighbours etc?

Russ :D

Great collection, you could make your own moneysupermarket advert with all those haha.

The one in the green army uniform with the green beret ( top pic ) looks like Arnie.

Cheers Russ, all my toys went in a garage sale so nothing survives from childhood
