nearly £2K for a bit of modern ?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Star-Wars-POTF2-Ben-Obi-Wan-Kenobi-SS-LT-NO-AFA-Short-Saber-Long-Tray-Holy-Grail-/181022648794?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item2a25ca69da

Who in there right mind would pay all that for a modern piece of ****. And you get to deal with Blarc in the process!
Also, who cares if its hot a short saber, long tray etc.
Holy grail of modern collecting my arse!

no doubt it will be relisted again and again and again, he uses multiple accounts to bid up his items, probably trying to tempt a newbie into outbidding him.

His trilogo fett has been sold at least 10 times lol.

Items like that are the reason I hate variations and the morons who chase them, as if it was some super-limited edition run that only a chosen few knew about. No you idiots, that particular day at the factory in China, the guy happened to have long trays and short sabres to hand. That's all there is to it

On another note - how long until we stop calling that stuff modern? 1995 is now 17 years ago. In 1995, the original line had only been out of production for a mere 9 or 10 years.

Yeah i noticed the sellers name and decided i will take this auction with a pinch of salt. People do however pay ridiculous amounts of money for certain rare pieces. I know this is only an asking price so not to be taken too seriously but i noticed it when searching ebay for the most expensive Star Wars toys following the sake of that Palitoy Chewie. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-A-New-Hope-Han-Solo-DVD-Release-Special-Edition-INCREDIBLY-RARE-/400338332645?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item5d36062be5
The mind boggles...

I've had this discussion before and the term modern will always be in place in my opinion because it's a comparative term to differentiate two phases of Star Wars toys/collectables. You have vintage Star Wars (77-85) and "modern" Star Wars (1990-onwards). Because the former exists the latter will always be termed "modern".
It's like asking "when will we stop calling it 'the NEW testament??... it's been a thousand years!!"

I guess what I mean is that POTF2 has been out of production for a decade, surely now the OT etc stuff is what should be called modern?

I would - and then resell it to someone happy to pay £2K ?
