Non League Football Chat

Da ja vu for us. A better performance and up until the first Braintree goal we were the better side. However poor defensive mistakes particulary from the goalkeeper? 3 apperances so far for Dawson. A clearance charged down against Wrexham - Goal, a OG against Grimsby and NOW yesterday! For first goal frustratingly from another corner he went walkies off his line and a looking header went sailing over him. Second goal. Just unforgivable really. Our defence failed to deal with a second phase and a tame header from Sparkes for Braintree squirmed in under his body. Terrible really.

These are worrying times at the moment. Hoping with Nicky back from his ban he can begin to get the lads confidence back up. Relegation looks a distinct outcome if this continues although unlike most Alfreton fans. Its best to stay postive and not get on the players back.

We havent played a single member of the bottom 10 yet - unfortunately we have the League Leaders away next up. It never gets any easier and its written in the stars that John Akinde WILL score!

Ok I'll go 1st lads seeing as its 2 am Sunday morning and im not tired!
Pretty standard win, nothing spectacular, we just did the simple things right. Lenel John Lewis was suspended so went 1 up top. Super Rossi Hannah came on with 20 mins to go and slotted home a peno from 1 such late lunge. Nathan Arnold also came on late on for his 1st action of the season. Apart from Andrew Boyce, who has gone back to Scunny, the squad we have at the mo is good enough to win this league. I suppose a clutch of other clubs think the same about their sides tho so we shall see. Welling tried to kick us off the park but for a change we got a homer of a ref so pulled them up on most challenges.
Up next the local derby Lincoln away on Tuesday. Weve sold 2000 tickets and have won at Sincil bank every season we have played them at this level so fairly confident.

A hundred times better from us yesterday. We gave the league leaders a real run for their money which fills me with confidence for upcoming games against fellow relegation rivals.
Dan Bradley was fantastic yesterday too. When he went off injured on 58, Rowe was sent off on 60 and we conceded a pen on 62. Thats where the match momentum changed but I as I say on to Tuesday now where our season starts for real.

I saw a incredible stat yesterday. Barnets first 9 games are against sides in the bottom 10 while our first 7 are against sides in the top 11

Gutted after tuesday, It was really hard to take. Its fair to say Alty deserved a point on their 2nd half showing but with all due respect I thought they where there for the taking and then Nicky takes off our one threat McDonald and after that t was all hands to pump and we couldnt hold out! 2 points dropped.

Hey Ho at least we are off zero!
Very Frustrated tho.

Been keeping an eye on the conference. Still a great league IMO.

The way we are ****ing playing we could end up back there again. Cambridge are out classing us aswell. Cheltenham today, but ive got a wedding to attend :( i bet we will friggin win!!!

Good win for you boys today!

a really pleasing performance all round by the sounds of it today from us. . Put an end to 18 games without a clean sheet and 16 without a win all in one go! GET IN. Now on to Tuesday against telford

Ive given up the ghost already. Tuesday defensively was a huge let down. Weve lost a centreback from Scunny, Andrew Boyce, who got recalled, and for Lincolns 2nd penalty we were down to 10 men as Pearson was off injured having treatment. The 3rd goal our keeper was fouled, infact, pinned like a wrestler! Anyways, expected an in form Torquay to beat us and they did, comfortably. LJL limped off to leave us with 10 men and all subs used for the final 20 mins aswell. Halifax away on Tuesday, i was going but now im not cos im mardy, the corner will turn i just dont know when we will start on the anual run to the play offs.

Hey Chiffy. keep the Faith mate. There are another 37 games to go yet! A lot could happen. Dont forget when Kiddy and Mansfield went toe to toe for the title Kiddy Lost their first 5 then drew their next 5 so there is hope yet! :)

Yeah man i know but i think my expectency level of getting out of this league fills me with optimism and then we lose 1 ( or 2 ) games and were getting relegated! Honestly, you wanna see our message board. After your game we were gonna piss the league and now everyone wants the gaffer sacked! Can you believe, as a season ticket holder and been to 2 away games so far, ive only seen us win 1 game! I was in Spain for the 13 goal feast and since ive been back ive been to all the games and weve done shite so ive cancelled my space in the car to Halifax Tuesday and i got no arguements from everyone else! One of my pals on facebook even statused that i should stay away for 5 years and when i returned we would be in the prem

Well Saturday was the worst game of football I have seen at the Impact. Oh and the refwas an utter embrassment. Should never refree again but you know he will. He gave Nuneaton a freekick with 4 to play after a Nuneaton player had fallen over! Not an alfreton anywhere near him! ****in Joke. Thankfully Mr Exodus Geohagan has his shot well saved by MOTM Dawson. The fact a goalkeeper was MOTM tells you all you need to know.

However. It was a well taken goal and three vital points which means we are up to 18th. Good to see we can win ugly. Gor a feeling its gonna be a similar affair on Saturday at Dover. Pray to God for a better refree and a similar result and I will be delighted.

10 points from the last 12 now.

Chiffy I have noticed Clee Town have had a good cup run and have North Ferriby at home Saturday.

They also played Heanor at home saturday and won 1-0. Good win as up until that point heanor had been romping it!

Now then now then! Well i have been banned form away games with the lads now we have drawn at Halifax and won at Kiddy so no one will take me to Dartford away next awayday incase we lose! We have so many players out injured it's unreal. Can you believe that Nathan Arnold as only played 20 minutes for us this season? Anyhows we signed a defender from York and a young striker from Barnsley who came on with 20 to go at Kiddy and banged the winner in.
Next 4 games are Chester and Southport at home Sat Tues then away at Dartford followed by Altrincham at home so looking for the full 12 points especially with these few days break and hopefully we can get some players back from injury nightmares.
RE Clee Town they are trying to get the fa cup game moved to Friday night so all the GTFC fans can go and support them but obvs Ferriby are not keen on that and to be fair, fa cup football is all about Saturdays!
The whole Clee Town setup oozes quality at the moment. They have a nice new 2 million pound ground with a couple of stands which the GY sunday league use for cup finals and it has conference facilities, a bar, 3g pitch, 10 grass pitches, loads of changing rooms, ample parking the lot! Add to the fact my daughter plays for Clee Town Ladies and are current Humber champions and cup winners themselves, they won 7-0 at the weekend and are away VS Lincoln on this coming weekend. The club are funded by a few ex GTFC players, (1 of my old heroes Tommy Watson being 1) and are only going 1 way at the moment, soon probably overtaking the mariners

Brakes were well beaten by Harrogate, who looked bigger and stronger. Their second was a beauty and there was little we could do... Don't mind when its a fair cop.

Oh well.. Roll on FA cup....

Who ya got in t'cup mate?

Leamington beat Ryman North side Wroxham 4-1 yesterday.

Very dissapointing by the sounds of it from us yesterday. We were well beaten by Dover who were all over us from the first to the last. Sounds like we have reverted back to the opening weeks of the season.

Anything from Tuesday against Halifax would be awesome but what Id give for a repeat scoreline from last season! (We trounced em 3-0)

Run of the mill routine win for us at home to Chester. Expected more from them if i'm honest as they seemed to be on a bit of a form run but we really didnt have to break a sweat to win 3-0 and we missed a penalty! Good to actually see what Nathan Arnold looks like, came on for last 10 minutes and notched. Southport at home on Tuesday night and surely another 3 points dare i say

We were poor but managed to beat Wroxham (Isthmian league 1) 4-1. Helped by a bit of a flap by Chris Sutton's 17 year old in goal.

Next round Worcester City at home. Definitely winnable, but they will be saying exactly the same thing.

Yep his time is surely up. Thing is tho he's got us into the pay offs 2 seasons running which is what the board require minimum so who would take the job knowing that anything less would mean the sack? We were totally clueless last night :(

So we travel to Gateshead tomorrow night somewhere we have a terrible record without a goal in 4 with a manager under serious pressure and with a squad shot on confidence :(

We need a lift! Otherwise Conference North here we come....
