Non League Football Chat

Just seen that the heed have asked for 1000 tickets for our place Thursday night! I'm willing to wager that they don't bring more than 500! I think the home attendance have only been over 1000 for 2 games this season?? Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong :D
Are we meeting up for a pint in either leg Cc4rhu? Dunno if you are coming over here but i'm defo gonna be at your place Sunday. We are just in talks about wether to goto Whitley Bay/Newcastle for the weekend or just come on the day. Think we have been allocated 3000 tickets but what happens in the home leg could dramatically increase or reduce that.
Sounds daft but being at home 1st suits us down to the ground. Our fans are very unpatient and get on the teams back if things are not going well. That is why we have been so good away from home as the support is alot more understanding. I can remember the semi final of the auto windscreens when we drew 1-1 at home to Burnley 1st leg. They thought it was a given but we went there with a few thousand fans and got behind them from the 1st kick and won 2-0 at Turfmoor, great night, youtube it lads, the 2nd goal was a worldy volley :)

I'm trying to sort out the away leg. Work is being difficult - they don't understand!!!!
Totally agree 500 will be about right.
There are no pubs near out stadium anymore - the Schooner is about 10 minutes walk away and will be packed. The next nearest ..... 20 minutes+ walk. At least it's easy to get to from the Metro. I'll certainly will be around Sunday for a pint before or after :)

The best of luck Guys. I think it will be extremely close!

I have a sneaky feeling Halifax may do it but good luck! :)

Last game you played here you brought a grand total of 16 fans mate. We were planning to open the away end to home supporters on Thursday ( holds around 2000 ) to get the atmosphere rocking from both ends and put your lot in the corner but, from out of nowhere, your end reckon youll need 1000 tickets so we cant do it anymore. Putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with less support for us scuppered by your club methinks. Anyways, i've told our PR fella David Smith to put salt in your half time teas like Cambridge used to :)

Cant believe im up this early!
Well i'll keep this shorter than normal cos my heed is banging. I thought that the game tonight was an excellent advert for non league football. Not being at home i can't comment on what it looked or sounded like on the box until i watch it again later but, being at the game, it was an electric atmosphere.
We gave the heed far too much respect in the 1st 20 mins but after our fantastic equaliser it was all us but we couldnt get the goal we deserved to take a lead into the 2nd leg.
We are far , far better away from home with 13 away victories ( including a 2-1 win at gateshead ) and backed by a couple of thousand fans i'm very confident we can return to our 2nd home. Saying that, i have no idea what Gatesheads home form is like, i just know theyre on a decent unbeaten run so hopefully another cracker is in store 8)

What do you reckon then? Another draw at yours and the dreaded peno shoot out?

Here's a piccy from the US Grimsby supporters branch with our very own Man VS Food's Adam Richman showing his support for the mighty mariners,....

Heed Army!Heed Army!Heed Army!Heed Army!Heed Army!Heed Army!Heed Army!

1st half = no Grimsbhy wtf?
2nd half = all Grimsy. Sending off very harsh. Second sending off died. was a definiye yes.

I'm pidded . My phonr died - no was t iea if Chiffy easy!!!!! there but we're off to Wenlbe

Congrats mate. I didnt ring you anyways. Nothing personel but i hope Cambridge stuff you. A real team that should not be in this **** hole of a league. Pretty much like ourselves. Only problem is there are annoying little terrier like twats like Gateshead improving every season to hinder us! Please dont take offence at that, there really is a compliment in there somewhere :p Fully deserved victory for the heed but was more down to our shite defensive attitude more than your ability to do much. When a team wants it more than another, well to me, that's worth a 1 goal head start anyways! Police were a bit over the top. 1st pitch ' running track ' invasion at 1-1 there was no violence it was just pure emotion and relief for us town fans. Obviously a few beers helped :)
Don't know if you saw what went on at halftime but it was me who beckoned a couple of our subs over who were warming up on the pitch. I basically told Andy Cook that they should all be in the changing room at halftime. The team spirit is all wrong for me. I also let him know that he would be released in the summer so with nothing to lose he should get in there and give Hurst a round of ****s. I could genuinly see that he felt the emotion we were going thru and what it meant, plus i was welling up. Shame the majority of the other players attitudes werent the same. I dont mind saying it. I'm 40 but this club is my life AND my kids lives and when they get upset i get upset!
I really do hope you enjoy your day out at Wembley pal and if you need any tips on stopping over then get hold of me. Weve been there that many times i know a lot of the hotel managers by name
Oh yeah, what a load of wankers those Newcastle fans are!
PS I just hope your player is ok after the career ender of a tackle i witnessed........

Wow, i heard the sending off was harsh but im lost for words. The Gateshead player should be ashamed of himself with that play acting.

Chiffy, keep your chin up fella. We lost 3 play off finals, and that really hurts but we persevered and got there in the end. I have to admit that Gateshead have worked hard and shown rapid improvement to end up in the play offs, and i think they do have a chance against CU.It will not be one way traffic..

I think I gave Grimsby the kiss of death when I said they'd go up at Christmas.
This game is massive for us, we won't be in the playoffs next year so it's now or never.
Curtis was great yesterday but Baxter was utter shite.
Police was OTT and the Gateshead pitch invasion was embarrassing. All little kids who'll piss off to Newcastle after Wembley

The best team just went up and you cant deny them over the course of the season plus Gateshead were doing the usual diving and fouling. Fair do's they went 1 better than us and of course i'm not still bitter. My main hope is that our Northeast representative had a great day out :)

Cambridge thoroughly deserved it - well done chaps.

I had to give my ticket to a mate. Very disappointed. Got into trouble off the Missus as I'm in London for 4 days during 1/2 term and it caused more aggro than it was worth. Have a **** load of DIY to do.

Looking forward to next season though. Skrill premier is better than league 2 quality wise.

Only problem now is that most of our fair weather fans will have unrealistic expectations after massively over achieving this year.

a honourable mention to Josh Law of Alfreton Town who has moved to Motherwell and we be playing European Football next season! 8) 8) Delighted for the lad. He deserves to be playing at a higher level. he has only stayed so he can work under his dad!

Your stand out player last season i thought matey! I can see a few of your decent players leaving actually. Bradley Wood has been bleating on how much he wants to come back to us in our local rag and theres rumours rife that Akinde is on our wishlist!
News from GTFC, Out of our 5 best players from last season, Alex Rodman has left to join a higher league club. Like you say tho matey you cannot fault them for wanting that. We expected Skrill Premier goalkeeper of the year James Mckeown to take up an offer from either Bradford or Hibs but he has just resigned for us on a 2 year deal! Unbelievable! Add to that, Scotty Nielsen has turned down 2 league 2 clubs yesterday and resigned for us on a 1 year with Shaun Pearson and Captain Craig Disley retained! Apparently, when they were told who we were after signing, that changed their minds and convinced them to stay on for another crack at promotion. Well chuffed after feeling suicidal after Gateshead defeat :D
