Next Haslab...

Did you back it?
I waited until it was obvious that it was going to get backed, and then did pull the trigger, yes. I really hate buying it knowing that I'm getting ripped off by Hasbro's UK price, but since it was clearly going to get made, I felt I should have one, as I really want the figures. I'm disappointed but not surprised that none of the stretch goals were reached, as I don't have space to display the gunship and £456 is a hell of a lot to pay for a pair of Clone Pilots…

A collector and his money are soon parted…

Congratulations, I'd have been disappointed if you hadn't.
You could always sell the gunship on?

Thank you. I thought you were going to ask me to sell the carded Clone Pilot ;).

No, I will keep the gunship in the hopes of one day being able to display it, even though I can't right now. Overpriced it may be, but I'm also sure it's a really nice piece.

Well…if your offering a Clone Pilot I would be happy to take it off your hands…

This is an odd one for Hasbro - on the one hand it funded, so internally they can tick it off as a success. On the other hand it was not exactly a solid performance and despite funding, not that well received more broadly it seems.

so should a multi-billion dollar company even be using crowd funding? - this has been asked a lot and to be honest not really answered. But I think one thing they need to look at is the mission statement for Haslab - if it is a once in a lifetime toy packed with value, then the LAAT was not it.

Maybe for their next effort, and lets face it there will be one since internally I am willing to bet they are all slapping each other on the back at Hasbro HQ - there is nothing like corporate culture to wilfully paper over any cracks and ignore customer criticism, which is always a 'minority' no mater how many voices (I've worked in big corporations - they are all the same)... Anyway, where was I - Oh yes for the next Haslab they should:

1 - Select a vehicle/playset etc. that is truly once in a lifetime - never done before, only partially ever done or not done since Kenner days
2 - Pack it full of accessories and figures at a basic level - lots of value
3 - Make the tiers super exclusive, i.e. extras or figures never seen before
4 - Make all the above worth paying the £000's it will cost.

I know a lot has been said of the new Lego Death Star - yes it is £900 in the UK, but at over 9000 pieces (10 pence per piece) and 34 figures + a shuttle it is actually decent value and in line with the USC Falcon or AT-AT (both of which are big sellers for Lego) - yes mega bucks, but for those buying it, you feel you're getting your money's worth.

Hasbro need to fix this - or maybe they don't???

Anyway - happy for the folks that will be getting the LAAT - and shipping this month apparently, which is cool and lets see what comes next.

Shipping this month - so made already then? This will be in Zavvi by Xmas as they definitely will have hundreds, if not thousands sat around

I can't see anything about it shipping this month?
Hasbro website says Fall 2026?

Oh - my bad - I was sure when it was up in the last few hours it said shipping September - Sorry, might have got folks excited there :)
