Well, my take is that I think it's absolutely rip-off overpriced, especially here in the UK where Hasbro do a straight $ for £ conversion without any justification whatsoever. This set is simply not worth £450. As of today, 30/07/25, £1 is worth $1.32, meaning the actual $ to £ conversion should make this set £341. That's a price I'd probably (grudgingly) pay, but when you're asked to fork out an extra £100 for literally no good reason other than to boost greedy Hasbro's coffers, I resent it greatly.
I want the figures of course, but like most collectors I suspect, I also want them a lot more than I want yet another Gunship. We've had plenty of Gunships before, and whilst this one is of course a significant improvement on its predecessors, so it damn well should be! Those improvements however, in my opinion at least, fall short of justifying making it into a Haslab project. Those projects should be really special, and simply making a new version of an existing ship that's 20% bigger doesn't really impress me all that much.
The Gunship is also massive and one I have no room to display. Boxed, depending on whether Hasbro can effectively detach the wings (which I suspect they will be able to), it should be smaller than the monstrous Ghost box, but it's still likely to be pretty damn big, which makes storing it a real issue. I seriously doubt whether this will unlock all of its tiers, if indeed it gets funded at all (my guess is it probably will be... just), but if Hasbro have indeed put resources into sculpting new figures for it, they're really not going to let that investment go to waste. The pack-in ones (whichever ones they prove to be, but certainly including the new Clone Pilot) are unlikely to be reissued outside of this set any time soon, IMHO. However, the ones that don't make it, just like Arleil Schous, the figure that failed to make it into the Haslab Cantina, I very strongly suspect will indeed be released on either a standard card, or maybe as part of a multi-pack, at some point down the road.
So will I buy it? I certainly don't want to, but if all the tiers should unlock, as a loose figure collector, I might find myself feeling bullied into shelling out for it, even though I don't really want the ship itself. Selfishly therefore, I hope it doesn't reach its backing target. Now before anyone objects to that, I would politely point out that me hoping for a particular outcome doesn't in any way influence that outcome beyond the scope of my singular vote by either backing or not backing it. I have no magical powers, but just like everyone else, I have an opinion and I'm entitled to it. Others can wish this gets made and I won't object to their view, so please allow me to have mine. If this thing ends up getting made and I don't buy it, I hope the backers truly enjoy their purchase, but if it doesn't, I've saved myself £450, and since I think we'll end up getting the new figures sooner or later anyway, that's certainly my preferred option.
