The big deal with AFA, was the way that it was set up, Tom invested a huge amount of time and money to set up cloudcity, over the years they gained a large amount of customers, and also contacts of both dealers and ex employees of toy companies, their reputation was built up over years of trading, then they set up AFA, which offered a service that was missing- to thier exhisting client base, to grade items, so that everyone knew exactly what a grade meant, and also to authenticate rare items, as by that time tom had seen more in both quantity and varying quality than most, so he had an opinion on legitimacy that not many others could claim, then he set up cib, to specialise in such high end pieces.
For another company to try and compete, they would need a similar history.
otherwise they are just a 'boxing/framing' company
and what sort of history do the graders have, i would want to know who they were, and how much they knew, could they spot a fake? or know if a certain variation of figure came on a certain cardback? or would they just seal it in a case without question?
No what happened was greed intervened and led to lies lies led to hate hate led to evil and when you have a million people follOWing there doctrine YOU HAVE A EVIL EMPIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LIKE I SAID THIS SUMMER DIMARTINO WILL **** HIS PANTS WHEN IM HANDING OUT THE DVD'S FOR FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the link, and look forward to speaking to you all.

Steve

they seem ok .i,m tempted to get some uv cases for figs like stormies and leia

As a relative newbie to all this collecting, if I was going to go down the 'graded' route at the mo, I'd go AFA as they appear established, knowledgeable and accepted...

If I'd never bought Tea bags before, I'd buy PG Tips..
If I'd never smoked, I'd try B&H..
If I'd never posted anything, I'd use Royal mail..

Go with what you know In the short term I'd say and gamble on the rest later when one has the time and the money...

Hi my names Steve and I am from UKG,I received an email from one of your members the other day with regards us coming on to this forum and having a chat about UKG and to answer any questions or queries that you ight have for us.
I understand people might have alot of questions and even maybe concerns about us and who we are so hopefully I can explain.
Steve :D

Hi thanks, I think I might have met a few of the guys that are on here before when we had a stand at the NEC sci fi fair back in Nov.

You going to be at any more shows soon? I missed NEC due to a combination of a stonking great hangover and rubbish London transport on Sunday mornings.

Jason

Fair play to you for coming on here to speak to us lot.

How's about you give us a brief run down of what service(s) it is you guys are offering etc (your chance to sell yourselves to us) and then If we have any questions we'll ask away?

I just reckon they deserve a bit of credit for coming on here, would have been easy enough just to fob Jabba off and never bother coming on, especially if they didn't know about this place and had only RS as guide to what SW forums are like.
