New forum software and design

Argh FFS i just edited one of Edd's messages when I thought I was Pm'ing him. I don't like this new set up at all. Far far too confusing. Is IOP still going?

Give it a week and you'll have forgotten what it used to look like, always the way :)

Lars are you just copying and pasting my posts?

No no are you a jedi since you can read my mind and write what I think before I get the time to write it ?

Arrggghh my eyes!

Only joking, I'm sure everyone will get used to it.

I don't like the new "." in the logo though, I always thought it was offensive on purpose

As the podcast guys found out C7 it can have implications with participating in events, so best to change it.

Sorry Ed, I don't like the new look. I'm grateful for the forum but hate this new change. G

I'm sure I'll get used to it, but everything is so small and hard to read, especially on my tablet. The photo resizing is a great feature as those giant photos pissed me off also. As others say though, a couple of weeks and we'll have forgotten the old format.

First off, thank you edd for all your efforts on the Forum. I can only imagine what it takes to keep it going.

Still a bit on the fence in relation to the new layout. Have only being using it on the mobile. Seems just a little more effort to find/follow things, threads?

100% though, I really don't like the new SWF.UK... :?
Doesn't look right. Appreciate there may have been innuendo with the previous format but it was hardly offensive!

All of the T-Shirts grant made are now redundant. I expect in light of this they will start showing up on ebay soon at massively high prices.

Open to suggestions on how to change it, but despite the fact it was probably unintentional this logo along with the abbreviation 'SWFUK' (coined by members here rather than myself) has been flagged as inappropriate, and with Celebration Europe coming up next year, I'm not going to let a logo spoil the forum's chance of getting involved. The forum didn't even have a logo until the competition last year so I'm sure people will get used to whatever we use going forward.

French connection have been getting away with it for years! The forum logo always reminded me of their logo.

Sounds like the new format is great on mobiles, but I 90 % use my IPad, which is notorious for non compatibility.

Flikr have just changed things for copying BCM codes for pics to drop into posts, and the new format is shocking on iPad, and doesn't work.

It's an age thing with me, for example, the pencil icon as opposed to the word edit in the button..... which all this change we will have to go back to the Rosetta stone and glyphs will replace words

But saying all of that. Again a massive thank you Edd, you can't please all of the people all of the time ( especially an old git like me!)

Love it on my mob but can't get it looking right on my PC - apologies if this has been asked already (I'm just home from nightshift and not firing on all cylinders)

On my mob it's great because I don't have to faf about resizing and text is nice and clear to read but on pc the whole page only takes up the middle part of the screen with two big starry borders either side - is there a way to make the page full screen? I've had a look under page settings but didn't see anyway to change it?

Cheers

P.S Love that I didn't have to resize this image before posting it, that really does save a lot of time messing about in photobucket, thanks

Most websites have a maximum width set these days, it's because now many people have massive desktop monitors text is very hard to read if the page is too wide. Most modern websites are the same, here's BBC News for example:

I don't like change! :(

I'm sure I'll get used to this in time.

But at the moment it's hurting my eyes!!

About the boxes for threads that have been read and threads with new posts.

I think the orange in the box is also not easy to see. What about changing the grey background to another colour if there is a new post in the thread ?

Maybe Gold for new posts and grey or silver for you have been reading the thread ?

It is just an idea, great update on the forum edd, you are the master and I am only the apprentice
