It's al good, but is there anyway to make the new posts icon more apparent? A little light orang highlight does nothing for me. Also our avatars to the right is a little quirky. Change is always a bitch.

Shame about the Swf.uk logo, doesnt look right but if it compromises the forum going forward with events etc then it has to be done.

Looking into this a bit more I agree that the orange highlight isn't quite clear enough and that the avatar's to the right doesn't seem to be on the right side (left that is ), with the way you naturally tend to look at a page. Maybe this is something that could be looked at in the future if it's the general thought on this?

I can see that this new look is probably more fitting for people using phones or iPads but as a laptop user it's a step back for me. The Board index page looks strange with icons to the left that appear to be some strange text and no icon, maybe it's different on something other than a laptop? ( also this strange non icon appears to the left on each section, shame).

Still, I'll keep going with for now as what's written and posted in this forum way out ways the way it looks.

My initial comments back on page 1 or 2 were all relating to how good it was on the iPhone.
Now I'm on my macbook and it works great on Safari and Firefox. I don't mind the switch over of the avatar placement.

I do think the orange 'unread' marker could be bolder, but the quick links drop down is really, really good as an offset.

Am I the only one who REALLY doesn't like it? :?

No you're not alone, I bloody hate change & was always drawn to this forum as the layout just worked/felt right & was user friendly as well as the obvious reasons.

I personally don't use smartphones & am stuck in the past in my thinking - phones are for calling not browsing, hell I got a computer & that's for the internet & phones are well phones, I hugely appreciate all the work & effort that's gone in to this, but am also finding it hard to come to terms with the new layout as follows -

1. not as easy on the eyes by a long shot - I only view on a laptop period.

2. avatars on the left, does not work well for me the other way round

3. the spacing, strip in the middle is a muddle, so much nicer fullscreen, please say there is an option to remedy this.

I can get used to the rest, even the stupid dot in the logo, gave the old format 110% & this one -10 on the eyes, I need some shades

Sign of the times really, iPhones etc

I actually use an iPad , and it's massive in this format, only about 2 posts per screen, probably be able to change it but don't know how

Give it a chance, I think it's much better will just take some getting use to. Just wandering where the no to u grades and repro signs have gone?

not sure of the charcoal grey behind posts i prefer white text on black easier on the eye for me, ive turned down my screen brightness to compensate

I've had a long-overdue tidy up of all the sticky threads in here which will hopefully make it easier for everybody to see the new posts. I moved the old ones to the relevant sub forums, eg the fakes thread to the eBay forum and the Toy Toni threads to the reference library forum.

Edd - have been on all day and am really struggling with the fonts - they are playing hell with my eyes on the laptop - is there anything that can be done?

I've held off saying anything until I've used it for a few days, I'll be honest didn't really like the change at first but having time to climatise it's really good, it's all still there but so much better to use on the iPhone.

I dont know if anyone said this before, but one thing of the change i don't like is the position off the user information next to a post. It used to be on the left in the browser (like on most forums), now its on the right side of the post... my visual preference would have been to keep it left.

I do have ot admit, that it looks/works perfect for me on my iphone which is an huge improvement and well worth the update.

I'm puzzled about why some people think it's now harder to read, here's a side by side screenshot with the old design. As you can see the font is exactly the same style/size, and if anything is brighter now so should be easier to read. Please can those of you struggling to read it elaborate?

Great job Edd I'm the first to usually complain about change and although I still prefer the old design this one is still good and as been mentioned earlier works great on mobile. I think the problem is mainly on computer screens I'm used to having the screen wide And as Iain said the text can be hard on the eyes. I think that is because it's so much brighter. Dont forget we're mostly old farts with deteriorating vision for me the bright text on a dark background actually becomes a little blury. The text as you showed above alrhough the same font becomes a little hard on the eyes when it brighter. Great job though mate appreciate the hard work.

OK thanks, if the font is too bright I can make it darker no problem.

Yeah its just the font coming across as bright white rather than a mellow tone of grey that's hurting the eyes IMO Edd, nothing to do with the font style & bar that & the avatars being switcheroo'd I am happy enough with the rest, must be a hell of a lot of work for you & don't think my constructive criticism is meant in a negative way
