Wow. That went for way more than I thought it would.
At that value, if it was anywhere in europe, i'd be delivering it myself. No way i'd risk sending it in the mail.
Congrats Jonny. 8)

Not sure if my last quote made it for some reason but has anyone noticed that the winning bidder doesn't seem to have bid on anything like this in the last month? In fact nobody after the 2900 bid seems to have bid on anything in this genre. I really do hope it's gone to a collector who needs it to complete their Palitoy set as it would be a shame if someone has it just because it's highly sought after.

Maybe I'm reading way to much into this all!

You could be right Ian, could be an antique dealer perhaps? Maybe Johnny (seller) could enlighten us further (cos we're all nosey buggers!)

yeah it might be best organising a meet up to deliver that one, even if its a 2hr train journey, get that cash in your hand...paypal would frighten me

For that amount of money I'd want the buyer taking me to his bank so he could get the money out over the counter - I for one would want to be walking around with £5k in my pocket, well I would, but you know what I mean!

SHITFUCKPISSBOLLOCKS!!!

WHAT A DAY?!

if you lot only knew the half of it. One day I'll tell you the whole (no names though) story but not today. Too frikkin' worn out.

It's very surreal, hard to get your head around. I really feel for those poor lottery winners now!

Chewie's gone to a Canadian super sniper who bagged him in the last 5 seconds. Didn't hear a word from him before the auction. Not a squeak. 3 major offers on the table to close early. I even accepted one only to be told by ebay that I was a rookie spaz and that it was too late to end the auction. I've spent a lot of today apologizing! If any of you are on here, sorry again! Ideally I'd have liked Chewie to stay in the UK and would loved to see him complete a collection of Palitoys over here but you can't have it all I guess!

I hope this is good news for the values of Vintage Star Wars across the board but one thing's for sure, completing a 12 back set just got more expensive.

Greedo made his reserve at £400 (bargain surely?) and the Tusken Raider went for £300 (another bargain?). I had hoped for better from them but I won't be moaning about values today!

Thanks for all your help and support on here, hopefully I won't be needing quite so much in future.

So, who was the closest?

Just out of interest, what was the top offer you had to end the auction (if you don't min me asking?)

5600, it was quite the day for all of us watching and it's kind of a shame it'll be leaving the country. I remember about a year ago a set of 10 Palitoy 12 backs plus AFA graded vehicles and a AFA 90 12 back Double T Luke going for 20k. I started thinking that that would be our Chewie buyer but I get the feeling now it probably wasn't.

Still it's kept us all entertained.

It really is unbelievable. To me it makes no sense, but then collecting toys never has!!

Well done DrP I am genuinely happy for you. And good on your Nan!!

This doesnt shock me at all.
As I said before early SW is selling really well at the minute and there are plenty of wealthy collectors out there with spare cash.
The last 2 Palitoy lukes I heard of went for £4000-4500 each.
Congrats to the seller, thats a nice unexpected Christmas present.......

This might bring a few more palitoy sellers out of the woodwork!

Holy High Bidded Palitoys Batman!!!!!

Congrats to DrP and to the buyer, shame that eBay gets a cut but they did give us the pleasure of watching the auction unfold.

Very interesting James, anymore info on those sales? The last Luke sale I know of generated around 2.3K I believe and that was a few months ago.

Got my Chewie and Luke back in 2007 for £500 a pop. Making that deal look like a steal compared to prices these days!

:)
