Ah - the first catch of the year.... This is another painful one, owned it back in the day, sold it and now getting it back - with the wave 1 of the Target exclusives that now means I have 7 of the 13, I think wave 2 of the Target exclusives will be a lot harder to find - certainly at an acceptable price - but the hunt will go on

Next few toys arrived yesterday. Getting closer on the SAGA Blue line - I think I am down to maybe 30 figures left (basic line). And the first of the new Loyal Subject MASK toys arrived - annoyingly it was the special edition Rhino which somehow arrived all the way from the US before the standard editions from the UK - Loyal Subject have made a mess of their distribution for sure.

Haven't opened the MASK box, but already I would say it looks **** (the box) compared to the old stuff - the material is thin and crap and the way the image is presented doesn't work (Could be the colour choice -but the black sucks all the vibrancy out of it) - and you can hear the thin plastic inside the box move as there is almost zero rigidity to it. Very disappointed really - I hope when the mainline order finally arrives the quality of the packaging is better.

The SAGA figures are mostly great - far better than I remember and to be honest I have avoided this line mainly due the fact I wrote it off as crap - I'll happily walk that back now - there are some really nice figures here, I still say overall the line was a mess, in that it didn't really give ATOTC's it's own design and space, rather mixed them in with OT figures - and it was the line that really went to town on reissues, kit bashing and paint changes, setting an annoying precisdent going forward - but there is some good stuff here and happy to be close to done with them (nowhere to store them of course.... but thats another problem)

Lots more to arrive - but only a few left to find to finish the SAGA blue run and then only the Original Trilogy to go to complete a basic carded figure run from 78-05 (not going to go after ROTS - so not touching the SAGA Black line).

Back on the Loyal Subjects MASK toys and the 'standard' Rhino arrived today.

So to be critical - they have used the same **** outer packaging material, although I understand the laminated element might be more protective it just doesn't scream quality and like the Special edition it lacks rigidity and you can here the plastic tray that holds the toy in place moving around inside - again for me, poor quality - better materials needed here.

But - the artwork and the colours and over all design of the box is fantastic - really captures the dynamism and vibrancy of OG while showcasing the toy.

Not going to open it, so can't comment on the QC issues people are talking about.

So only 1 more figure to find on the Saga Blue line now - and the first of the OTC line - which thankfully is small and it seems not high priced - because out of the c50 figures only about 9 or 10 were new - everything else is just a repack...
Couldn't resist a bargain price on the Death Star Briefing (also got a steal on Hunt For Millennium Falcon pack on the way) - but no more there.

I feel I might be keeping this modern thread going a bit right now - but these are cool (I am getting over the packaging material which I don't like) but the artwork and vibrant colours are soooooo good and as a set look great - I will of course be hanging out for Wave 2 later this year - but no more odd variants and stuff and now these are coming out I may sell on my two Makina Labs toys - since they are technically not official (Although they claim to be....) we will see.

A little more post today:
First we have J'Quille - not easy to find and not the cheapest, but I think compared to the US asking prices right now I did well (£40). what's more he is the final figure needed to complete my Saga Blue line.... So now I'm looking at the OTC line - and a few more of them arrived today...

Figured I'd test out the gathered app version of the forum and post from there… this isn't SW but pretty cool - I am loving the Tranformers Missing Link line - easily the best 'reissue' line of any toy out there right now…

Finally 15 years after selling these (and regretting in straight away) I have a full set again - sadly not as super minty as I'd like - some yellowing on the plastic here and there and poor Anakin seems to have gotten a bit upside down - but all still sealed and hopefully they are the last of the pricy items I need to recollect everything I sold of and get towards my basic figure ambition (although these aren't basic carded figures - so clearly I can't stick to a plan.... )

Acquired a couple of modern Gentle Giants for my Stormtrooper focus. I was aware the figures are 12" in size, but to see them in the flesh for the first time, I'm astounded at the size of them along with the cardback. Bloody enormous!!!

Visually though, they do look incredibly impressive. I just need a Hoth Battle Gear and TIE Fighter Pilot, now…

Not long after purchasing these I got a good deal on both Luke and Vader McQuarrie concepts… I couldn't resist!

The idea of building an extension to the house is a thought that keeps returning…

These Gentle Giants keep on arriving… I've begun to recognise when my collecting goes in to hyperdrive, one of the symptoms is not remembering what I've purchased!

This 2010 Boba Fett arrived today, with the 'ESB 30' sticker on the clamshell case, bottom right. I'm still astounded at the size of these figures and how they're upscaled perfectly from the original sculpt. And yes, it took a second or two but I did eventually remember making the purchase!!

I've added a 6" and 3.75" card for scale. Thanks for looking!

Four more figures from the OTC arrived today (25 to go.. I think) - These ones have me a bit bemused though - I can't find a visual reference for the backing image for the figures being like this - all the guides I can find show a film backing (like the Medine figure) wonder if it is a US/UK thing or something, anyway - since I'm not a variant collector not too fussed, but would be good to know.

So I really am focused on finishing this 'basic carded run' - 13 to go by my count - but there are always little side purchases (or not so little)
Never owned this back in 2005 and it will look great next to the Naboo one (If I can ever find space).
I have one really bit OTC side purchase one the way - just couldn't resist.... post that later in the week.

Another Gentle Giant 12" figure purchase for myself, a 2014 TIE Fighter Pilot for my Imperial Trooper focus (I've no idea how I'm going to find the room to display these… but I will!!). The 12" Biker Scout is on its way from the States, I just need the jumbo Snowie to complete this side run…

This has to be the last rabbit hole before finishing the figure run (14 left to go - all pretty easy to find, but all around the £15-£20 mark - getting punchy for a modern figure - but there you go...) Again I never owned this back in 2005. This was the first major update to the Falcon after 1978 (POTF2 was just a paint job I think) - this has a new cockpit, upgraded lights and sounds, missiles, remoulded rear lid and big new paint job - it looks fantastic and this one is minty.

I was expecting I'd be posting a photo of my latest Gentle Giant addition to my Trooper focus, this week… I'm gutted to see that it hasn't even left the US, and is now being returned to the sender due to 'issues encountered'. No other explanation!! What a pain….

And here we have - drumroll please - Since 2005 i have been trying to complete what i see as full run of 'basic' carded figures from 78-05 (No variants and no duplicates, where the same figure is just re-packed within the same line - and i don't count Ewoks/Droids figures).

So that is 608 carded figures in total covering Kenner, POTF2, EP1, POTJ, SAGA Blue Phase 1,2 & 3, ROTS & TOTC.

And these six are the last ones needed to tick that box after 20 years of trying.....

I have wanted this figure/cardback for quite a while and finally pulled the trigger on this from ebay.
