latest film/ dvd you have seen

Deffo  Fair play, he is a top film maker.

First watched Dogs around the time it came out, which was also around the same time as Trainspotting and the VHS release of Withnail & I. All low(ish) budget films. For me the two British movies pissed all over Dogs. Lock Stock also came out around that time and the same goes - infinitely better than Reservoir Dogs IMO. I guess that American films of this genre don't interest me much. Again i will say that i don't think Dogs is bad. It's a very good film. But around the time there were (for me) much better movies out such as the previously mentioned Trainspotting, W&I, Lock Stock and the big budgets Leon and True Romance. Great time for films 8)

Watched Hangover 3. It's ok. Nothing special. If you've got two hours to kill and fancy a few laughs it'll do the trick.
Probably the weakest of the three, but then that's to be expected.
Not the best, but by no means terrible.

Just watched The Liability. Great low budget Brit Flick. A real hark back to the old school low budget British crime/gangster film. Tim Roth is as watchable as ever, highly recommend this one. Fans of Skins (which most of us might be a bit old for) might see this as a bit of a 'further adventures of Cookie' but it works well.

Watch Silver Linings Playbook as well, great film, great acting and a real gem.

Three films today.

1 - Lego Batman the Movie - loved it, not quite the same self deprecating humor of the three SW films they have done but enou humor there to enjoy and a fair few nods to the more mainstream versions of the characters, and all in lego so what's not to love. Also for a 70 min film it actually hold the attention well and the kids loved it.

2 - Flight - a great film with Denzel on top form, great opening 20 mins really solid film making and the first few mins will put a smile on every red blooded male :).

3 - The Dark Knight Returns Part 2 - this really is Batman as he should be, gut wrenching stuff, gritty and nasty and emotional, every bit as good as the first part and a film every 'comic book' fan needs to see.

One last super hero film for the weekend.

Superman Unbound - not the best DCU movie. Not a fan of the overly angular animation style and as a story there are only so many times Brainiac can be rehashed and despite some good voice talent ultimately this lacked any real emotional depth. I think that is an issue with many superman stories, how do you really find the heart and vulnerability of the man of steel, no threat is ever really credible. On a side bar it will be interesting to see how Snyder and Co. manage it later in the month. But back to this animated offering, an ok watch but doesn't match the recent Batman films, one for the die hard fan maybe.
Roll on Flashpoint later in the year, that could be great.

i watched scary moVie and its pretty bad, the odd funny bit, its just a cheap flick now.

also watched hansel and gretal witch hunters, cheesy but ok, worth a watch.

Superman........

Sorry guys but in my opinion a terrible film.

Very long drawn out CGI set pieces - and I really mean overly long
Every scene is accompanied by loud dramatic music, gets so tiring very quickly.

Zero character development. Russell Crowe however does a great stint as usual.

Hopefully no spoilers but did I mention I though it was a bit ****!

100% agree

It is so mediocre - I was gutted when I was walking out of the cinema, absolutely gutted

Personally, I thought Kevin Costner was the best thing in it by far - there is a great scene with him and Cavill, really quite moving.

Apart from that I wouldn't bother to see it again (and I saw the Dark Knight three times at the cinema  ) but wouldn't tell others not to see it.

On a side note, haven't been on here for months. There are a lot of new people on here!
Haven't bought a single SW thing since Christmas I think, it might even be before that
Hope everyone is well

Getting a bit gutted about the feed back for man of steel. Was talking to some fella's from then 501st (Yeovil branch, down in Torquay doing some charity work) they said the same thing. I guess everyone is expecting another batman!

I'm still looking forward to watching it though.

Hey Nick, good to see you back on here.
Heard nothing but bad or mediocre reviews for Superman. Altho i'm one of the few people who couldn't care less about it. I've "looked forward" to enough superhero movies over the last 12 years to not expect them to be any good anymore. Batman is the only exception. 8)

I don't think I've watched a single superhero movie, bar the first Spiderman and it was utter utter shite.
Ohh and I did see the last Batman on a flight somewhere, it was decent.

You just know the rest are/will be utter pants, with terrible plots and 80% of the budget blown on special effects and CGI. We all know how CGI makes movies don't we George! No need for plot, just blue screen and no one will care

Watched Lincon the other day, despite the hype i found it hard to really get into. The perfomances are great, which they need to be to carry the movie, which i actually felt was not really as good as it thought it was. Very hard to do a bi-op like that when there is so much material to cover so it was good to focus on what was arguably the most important period in the mans life but somehow i found it hard to really care about the character as much as they wanted me to, also the ending was a little off a case of trying a little too hard i think.
Anyway, i might be in the minority there but hey :)

No, i agree with that. I love Day Lewis and the movie was decent but not amazing. Not the sort of thing i'd care to see again. I personally think Joaquin Phoenix should have got the oscar this year. Much more powerful performance.

watched seven psychopaths, it got great critic reviews, supposed to be funny, i didnt laugh once, it was an ok film but i wouldnt watch it again.

RE: Superman, i keep hearing good reviews. They are only from people at work but still :?

On a similar topic, I haven't seen Skyfall yet but i want to. I liked the last two 007 movies and think DC plays a great Bond. However, people keep saying it's rubbish. The main thing that really put me off going to the cinema was the Adelle song. Absolutely cannot stand the song or her. I feel like Adelle is a national embarrassment whenever she talks. What was it she won - a Grammy or something. The speech! ...sweet baby Jesus! Anyway, a massive let down to go from the last two awesome Bond intro songs to sodding Adelle and "Skyfow, when we cwumbo" pass me the ****ing sick bucket

Rant over and out :D

Have to agree there... Adele is over-rated twaddle. The movie's not too bad however
