latest film/ dvd you have seen

On TV last night - What's Love Got To Do With It. The Ike & Tina Turner story. It sounds **** but got right into it. Man he beat the crap out of her! What a bastard.

Just watched seven psychopaths - cracking watch, slightly left of field, enjoyable two hours well spent and Sam Rockwell is outstanding in this, but then I thought In Bruges was a great film so this was always going to be a hit with me, what with it being the same creative team and all.

Having mentioned in the SW in film thread Pitch Perfect has a healthy dollop of vintage I finally got through the film on the flight home last night and quite frankly it rocked... So surprised by that, it was lit and fun and engaging, I smiled from start to finish well worth a watch

I watched Movie 43 last night, wow it's very different!!, can't say too much as it would spoil it :)

Watched Jack Reacher, thought it was good fun, very stock and trade if you will but there is enough of an anti-hero there to be interesting, anyway never read the books but will get into them now as I am sure they will be better that the adaptation, which is well worth a watch.

Watched Jack Reacher myslef last night.

Agree 100% with Matt here its a great watch!

Yeah, in for a penny, just orderd all 17 paperbacks on amazon, that should keep me stocked in tube journey reading material for a little while :)

Quick addition.
Just finished watching How I Spent My Summer Vacation. Mel Gibson may be on the naughty list right now but let's not forget he was and based on this sort form is one of the action movie stars of his generation. This film was dark, comic, violent and somehow charming, in that you pull for the hero, who is a thief, murderer and all around bad guy. This really is worth a watch, I susspect if it hadn't been for 'off the field' controversy this would have had a bigger PR push and wider distribution.

Just sat down and watch The Saphaires and Seeking a Freind for the End of the World back to back - it was that kind of day...

Both really enjoyable, Saphaires was a touch predictable but well done.
End of the world was quirky and engaging spent the entire film wondering what I would do - still don't know :)

Viewing over the last week...

Texas Chainsaw 3D - As much as I looked the remake and the prequel, this is very average :(

The Place Beyond The Pines - First half good, but then goes downhill. Can't say anymore "spoiler alert"

Beautiful Creatures - I know (the missus picked it!), something for twiglets to watch now twilight has ended.

Jack Reacher's a good film. I think Cruise could have made him less talkative and a little more mysterious for me.
The books suggest he should be about 6 1/2 feet tall, and built like a **** house.

yeah i watched parker too, pretty much the same deal as always with his films but worth a watch, Jennifer doesn't get her baps out though :(

Watched Hot Rod the other day. Not sure what i made of it really. Some very, very funny bits and some really weird ****, but the film didn't flow. Seemed a bit disjointed if you know what i mean. Liked it though and would watch again.

If you liked Superbad and Beavis & Butthead then watch this film 8)

Just got back from the IMAX having watched Star Trek into Darkness.... WOW. It was great, I can't say much because there are twists and turns and reveals that you may not know, but it is every bit as good as the first outing, if not better as the characters have more to do. Visually stunning (even in 3D) and somehow relevant yet reverent to its heritage at the same time. If JJ brings this game to the SW universe it will be a treat.

One extreme to the other for me. After the high of Star Trek last night the ooh so low, very low of Alex Cross today... Has there ever been a sloppier, ham-fisted, joke of a film. SME of the worst directing, writing, casting, acting, dust bout everything I have ever. Seen. I actually wondered off to do the laundry halfway through... Save yourselves the pain of watching this one at all costs.

Edit... Ahhhh just read they are actually planning a sequel... Please no, don't do it the film loving public haven't done anything to you..
