latest film/ dvd you have seen

Havn't got round to watching 300 yet. Ive been a massive fan of the original comic for years.

When I heard that Frank Miller's Sin City was getting the movie treatment. My instant reaction was they must have a go at '300'! Make a good antidote to all this bloated Epics like Alexander and Troy.

Watched The Proposition on dvd last night. It was the best thing I saw in cinema last year. Well the only thing with balls, couldn't actually remember the last time I saw a 18 cert movie with a ticket. Brutal Australian outback western by Writer & Musician Nick Cave.

I read 'Gates of Fire' which is about the 300 stand at Thermopylae and it blew me away, one of the most enjoyable books I've ever read. Really moving too in places. That story has been told to soldiers for centuries apparently to instill courage against unsurmountable odds and the improtance of picking the right location for battle, and you can see why. Its based on an actual Historical event although the numbers of Persians they faced is not actually known but its certanily thought to be several thousand.

I haven't seen 300 yet, when I saw the trailer I was pissed off because it looed like a typical big screen ransacking of a great historical legend, then I read it was based on the Graphic Novel and it made sense because I thought it looked very sin city for some reason on the trailer. Since its a remake of the Graphic novel I can see where they're coming from and I'm not gonna write it off and would like to see it now. May go next week to watch it. Still, I'd recommend Gates of Fire to anyone, an exhilerating read!

Watched the prestige the other night which was very good. Also watched a little known subtitled film called No Man's land, which is set in the Bosnian conflict about 3 soldiers from both sides who get stuck in no mans land in a trench one of who is injured and stuck on a land mine and can't move and how the UN peacekeeprs do nothing to get them out because they dont want to get involved in conflict situations. It was excellent, really good satire of how ****ed up war is, its been compared to catch 22.. funny in places but moving too reminded me of three kings, worth a watch if you want something a bit different!

"Catch 22", easily the worst book I've ever tried to read. Got stuck about 200 pages in, it's just pish!

Ohhh aye, someone told me she bats for the other side/drinks from the furry goblet :?

I guess that's either a challenge, to 'cure' her, or a bonus (you get her and her lezbi-friend) :D
