Not sure whether this piece will be a long term keeper or not as I'd like to add a high grade Harbert to go with my UHU Teebo so may use it as trade bait but in the meantime well chuffed to add it to my collection.

All in all a good year - Merry Christmas everyone!

Cheers,
Christian

You kept that quiet old bean ;) When did it come back?

I am very pleased to hear and see it score so well, I was thinking 75 due to it being a foreign piece but 80 I think does it justice, it really is in super condition.

I hope it does stay with you a while Christian but if it goes towards a higher priority piece then good luck to you !

Joe

Christian,

nice addition mate. And like Joe says if you use this as bait for a higher priority peice then i am sure there will be takers either here or on RS.

Are you going to be around in Cheltenham over the xmas to new year break? If so give me a shout and we can catch up for a beer or 12!!!! And maye finally i can show you the chewie collection.

Speak soon
Steve

Christian,Nice addition my friend :D

Really does boff you off when you get a c80b85b85 and an overall 80 :x ,I've had loads of figures with those subs in my time.

some great stuff once again chaps - and a superb Ackbar Christian. It's one of my long term goals to own a pbp Han

Well I have to agree with the general sentiment that everyone over the past year has been able to add a significant item(s) to this thread. I'd just like to add my congratulations to all the idiotic 30-somethings out there who still relive their childhood through paying ridiculous amounts for plastic toys  Long may it continue!

As for the Ackbar - Joe/Shawn it only arrived back this morning from AFA and as for the overall grade I was actually delighted with that because I had assumed the slight edgewear may have dragged the card grade down to 75. I think that the fact the card does not have any creases really secured the 80 :)

Steve - I may well be up your way over Christmas seeing the outlaws so will call you if possible. Cheers.

Happy Xmas!

Christian

What a fantabulously wonderiffic day it is! LMFAO

This bad girl just arrived and I think she looks AFA 90 to me, she dodged customs even though she had a label on her box!

Love the PBP by the way! :)

Chaz, that Leia looks a beaut, congrats mate.

Another congrats on dodging the custom charge you jammy ****!!!!! :D

Wish some of my import charges were missed this year,I've had plenty.

20 quid!!! Thank god you didn't have to pay it! I wish the same had happened for you Lee!

So, are you going to AFA it Chaz? That means you bought a Palitoy figure from America, got it shipped back to the UK and will then send it to America for grading and get it sent back again   Well traveled bounty hunter that one!

 Cheers lads, she is nice and shiny. :D

I am not sure about AFA anymore to be honest Joe, I quite like the thought of being able to put my hands on everything. I may be temted though, I have several things that would be much safer in an AFA prison box. My dog ate his first vintage parcel the other day, he is on his third now! Lucky it was just some loose figures

Good to see you back

I do go a bit quiet every now and again, usually it means I am skint and avoiding the forums stops me spending lol

I don't blame you mate, acrylic is a wonderful thing, but not sealed for all eternity (or until you take a hammer to it)

That is a great pick up though, you must be well chuffed :D You working through a master list for boushh then? What's next on the horizon?

Still got those prototype pieces??

I have paid for a proof and getting some cash together for the first shot, taking a much slower aproach for a little while. I would like to buy some of Matts stuff but to be honest with the way things are I will end up buying them next time there up for sale  I might even have to start buying the Kenner cards

You JAMMY BASTARD!
Not once, have I ever escaped a customs charge! As soon as the value hits Gordon's limit his little minions shaft me for more money (and then Parcelforce do me again).

I know this is modern but as its the only kind of 'U' grade that should be alowed and given that its my only 'U' graded purchase I wanted to share it

How come the PBP Ackbar earlier in this thread had subs of 80 85 85 and got overall 80 but the modern Leia got 90 95 95 and got overall 95. How does that work?? :? Sorry for my ignorance but i don't collect afa stuff. Surely the Ackbar should have an 85 overall :?

This arrived today which I'm really pleased with as I got it for a great price as it was listed incorrectly.

Just waiting on a few more bits to arrive in the post before I get some photos up.

Peter - unfortunately the sub-grades are only indicators to the relative strength of the individual components of the piece i.e card, bubble & figure. Therefore you can't take an average of the subs to get the overall grade (some think you should but it doesn't work like that). AFA have themselves described various attributed sub-grades as being 'strong' (as in the case of the modern Boussh presumably) or 'medium' or even 'weak' and as the card grade usually dictates the overall grade it is these minor 'opinions' that give the final grade. FWIW I have had AFA 85 moc's with subs of 80,85,85 as well so it does work both ways.
Ultimately AFA is only one (or two) opinion(s) on condition but still a recognised uniform opinion within the collecting community. Probably one of the main reasons that AFA has dedicated fellowers and also collectors who would be more than happy to see it fold.

Cheers,
Christian
