Latest Acquisitions

Some great additions guys.

It's been more than a year since I have had anything to add to this thread and I count myself extremely lucky to do so now. I spotted this in a lot of 4 mini rigs on a Dutch auction site. Obviously the seller didn't know what she had and neither did any of the other bidders. I felt elated when she accepted my bid for the lot at a fraction of the price these went for a few years ago when prices were 'normal', let alone what it would have fetched with a more knowledgeable seller and bidders now.

So here it is. I had given up hope of ever owning one of these. Needless to say I'm over the moon with it.

And here's the finished run.

Great score on the MTV-7, and interesting to see it come in a baggie rather than cardboard inserts. Looks like they didn't bother to redo the instructions either with the Tri-Logo header, did any of the Tri mini rigs have Tri-Logo branded instructions (sorry to ask such an anorak question!).

Iain, I'm pretty staggered by that Death Star Droid haul - is that load all a new acquisition? Amazing - a huge focus just in that shot!

I suspect you already know but our old friend the DSD has also been spotted on set in ROGUE ONE...

The other 3 did have them.

Not sure why they didn't bother for the MTV-7.

I know mine's not a fluke as the Tri MTV-7 on Joe's Trilogo website also has the regular ROTJ-instructions.

By the way, what's an anorak question? :)

'Anorak' may be a British colloquialism... I think it comes from train spotters, standing out in all weathers with their notepads, jotting down train numbers. Basically it's a nickname for a nerdy hobbyist!

Love that Rogue One picture - I hadn't seen that before - good to see the shiny silver rod has survived !

It is all one lot - I had been paying for it over the last 2 months - not sure if you saw the focus Jason had on RS but it was amazing - Mete got their first so took most of the high end pieces but I was happy enough to pick up the rest - really need to get everything sorted and displayed properly

Yep. Anorak is the name given to a type of waterproof coat. In the U.K. Train spotting used to have quite a following. if you got the train from certain stations as you pulled off the platform the trainspotters would be right down the end taking train numbers and the anorak would be the coat of choice due to the fact it's good for all weathers.

As they were all seeming in anoraks the nickname stuck, and then got applied to basically any hobby that other people considered dull or boring.

It's a dated expression now. Sort of evolved into nerd or geek. In the U.K. now it's gone full circle and needs and geeks are cool. People who ridiculed me in the 90s for star wars collecting are suddenly quite interested in my collection room, and I see more Star Wars tshirts and references then ever before. Suddenly it's not so bad to say your a Star Wars fan anymore!

The word Anorak derived from Greenland Eskimo..... anoraq, for an Eskimo s waterproof hooded jacket.

It was introduced into the english language as a term to describe a person with obsessive/unfashionable solitary interests, largely as a derogative term.
Trainspotters were dubbed with the term.

Just added this Meccano X-Wing fighter ("Chasseur X") version #1.
It completes my run of the 3 different Meccano GDE releases!
Just like with the Meccano Landspeeder (see my previous post on here), Meccano used the Palitoy box and covered up the SW logo with the GDE logo and the Palitoy logo with the Meccano Logo. The other 2 versions have a different box art with a red background.
As you can see, this Meccano X-Wing was made in England ("fabriqué en Angleterre" printed on the box), while some Palitoy ships from the same era like the Palitoy DV TIE fighter were made in France!
This shows how close the relationships between Palitoy and Meccano were :)

Amazing ... just amazing.
Never knew, that there were three different versions. Collecting vintage SW for over 20 years now, and always learning new facts.

Not technically my latest acquisitions, but as these came back from the framers today, I think they just about count...

First up, a pair of Sublevelstudios artist proofs:

... and if that wasn't good enough...I also got my ESB hanging sign framed up at last too! :D :D :D

Loving them framed posters/drawing savory100! Definately should be proud of your self with what you have done there! Think I have a postcard sublevelstudios done for the vintage rebellion lads from celebration and framed that too ( small but still stunning)
And Matthieu ..... When u said u had got something I might like u wasn't kidding was yeh! That meccanno X wing is stunning and seeing the 3 lined up like that.... Wow!

Merci Ricky!! ;)

Steve, amazing wall! Nice Dan Tearle painting there too. Looks brilliant. That sign looks the mutts nuts mounted up. And you've just given me an idea about how to mount mine...

Totally recommend the framing option. My guy used museum quality archival tape (which will not mark the item and is easily removed if you ever need to take it out of the frame) to hold it off the backing board and away from the glass, so it looks like its floating and has a shadow around it for added effect.

Oh, and as well as Mark Daniels / sublevelstudios, the wall does indeed hold a Dan Tearle piece as well as an Ali Eales watercolour and a signed and numbered Kim Simmonds photograph too. The last piece on that wall is a used and signed production storyboard of Han in the gunner seat of the Falcon.

Havent been online much, but the last couple of pages have been a tour of amazing stuff.

Check out he propstore auction- its going on right now with some major crazy stuff for sale.

Hope this film is good:
