Latest Acquisitions

As always, some great stuff being seen here. From incredibly rare Bobas to original props pieces and completed childhood toys! Poor Jez. When he does his update he'll be wishing he was in training for running the marathon in a Rancor outfit.

Back from hols with a few goodies waiting for me. The first one is both the best and the worst for me: it proves there are absolute bargains still to be had whilst also proving there are some absolute tools still out there. These two came courtesy of ebay and were purchased for £20 each including postage. They are the worse for wear and one more so than the other. They are resting on the packing they came in. Yes, that's a bit of bubble wrap and the obligatory jiffy bag. The ONE time I don't ask the seller to take care packing in a box, etc. In all fairness, they were never going to get much worse in the post and I don't think, but it still makes the blood boil. A pair of Han Hoth Palitoy 45b MOCs. Info from Gary says that he's from far the easiest of the 45bs to find:

The bubble on both are crushed. The one on the left has two decent length splits up the sides but you still can't remove Han. The one on the right is much, much better with only the foot of one stem split. Well chuffed.

Next is a nice selection of Palitoy carbacks (one Kenner but it's cool so is allowed) that came (again) of ebay from a very nice guy in Denmark (Lars is right: they ARE all nice guys!) who I've had a few lots from. They came with his childhood figures, too. Had some great stuff from him but missed some more, which was gutting. All bar one feature Danish price stickers:

Finally, another ebay bargain (like buses). I don't know why I looked past the first picture on this when I was stood in a queue at Epcot, but I did. I can only think it was because I knew I didn't have one and it was a really, really long queue. Noticed the Italian import sticker on the second photo and a deal was done. The description made no mention of the sticker at all. Thanks Joe for your input on him. My first Italian import sticker and one more Trilogo ticked off:

Simon you have pretty much single handly doubled the total number of known sealed 45B Han Hoths in one post

Amazing they survived the post

They might not look it but those are very rare pieces 8)

Scruffy - i missed those hans great scores 8) i bought a moc for £20 with postage this week. I reckon i bought from the same guy. He had loads of cheap pali's they got snaffled real quick. All shocking condition.

Poncho, I only just looked at other items and I think it'll be one for the next podcast. Some incredibly rare pieces and some of them in pretty reasonable condition along with the shockers. And all probably mailed out in Jiffy bags  I certainly missed the best but happy enough with these :)

I noticed all those mocs has sold for 20 each and thought the Yoda was also a steal even though it looked like the bubble had split at the top. I guess it's hardly surprising that the guy who was putting these thing sup for so little was never going to think about sending them with any real care. Sometimes it seems that we are left with being at the mercy of the postman!

Great score though guys :D

Thought I'd have a trip down memory lane

Would love to see some scanned pages of adverts for vintage star wars and what was available, and who was dealing, the crazy prices etc.I used to get that magazine regulary from 1997 onwards.Unfortunately I chucked out my old issues and only have a 2000 year mag left.

Could perhaps make a thread with scanned pages from model and collectors mart especially from early collecting days think it would make some good viewing/reading.

I picked these two up on ebay this week - delivered yesterday in a box thankfully! Yoda's bubble is cracked but he can't be removed - han is dented, but no cracks.

Max - so you got the bargain yoda and han 8) Nice a forum member got it and not a dealer/flipper. Score for you :)

iain - awesome pieces as usual i love the bootleg r2d2 and pbp/tri moc

Nice one maxf :) Did you must have come across them just after that Luke Bespin sold, but those two are brilliant. Even with a cracked bubble the Yoda is a real Gem. Great looking card on it.

I agree, it's great to see SWF members picking up these awesome bargains rather than dealers! Always happy when a fellow forum member gets a great deal and cherishes the item instead of trying to sell it for 10x what they purchased it for 3 days after buying it 8)

A few cool things this week to share - inc. non vintage and non star wars, so I hope you all dont mind!

This week I got lucky and picked up a pair of reebok alien ripley stompers. Big fan of the alien movies (and battlestar, buck rogers, blakes seven etc).

I also picked up a copy of the force awakens (finally) and the new rebellion board game, which has some great miniatures and is focused on the OT.

Last but by no means least, an imperial dignitary arrived... which means I've now completed my first mintyish loose set!
