Latest Acquisitions

I've been meaning to post this up for a while.

I took my dad to see the Force Awakens, just before we set off he said i've found something you will like:

He had found a letter my brother had sent him in a Star Wars envelope dated 25th July 1978!

My dad hadn't come on holiday to Wales with us, as he was about to go to America. It was on that trip that he bought me my first ever Star Wars Figure - chewy, which i've still got!

Even though the letter was from my older brother I was well chuffed to see it and to talk early Star Wars collecting with my dad. We then had the entire cinema to ourselves to watch the Force Awakens!

I've removed personal details from the envelope.

I've asked my dad to see if he has any other star wars paper work hidden away, i'm hopeful he will unearth something of mine at some point, but he told me he has a complex 'filing' system, so things aren't easy to find!

peekaygee73. I love the fact you have tracked down an MOC from your childhood shop. What an amazing score. It's all about the memories!

My childhood shop was Goldie in Coventry. I haven't seen any MOC from Goldie and can't afford them anyway. I did manage to find a Goldie stickered cardback, but I sent it on vialli, a fellow Coventry collector as I still had my childhood cardback for that figure.
Cheers mate - I hope you manage to come across one again. It's great that your Dad kept an (almost) 40-year old letter - memories again, but the sort you can't buy.

That envelope is brilliant Paul, but what caught my eye is the postal stamp, Porthmadog, I used to holiday there myself when I was a nipper with my family in the early 80's, I still have figures in my collection from various shops in and around that area. Happy days ! :D

Lot of love for a VCJ! And there seems to be quite a difference in cape lengths judging by the 2 on this page... Please don't tell me there are long and short cape variants!!! I couldn't cope with that!

No the cape is shorter than it looks in the picture, It's just the angle I took it from making it look longer.

Weren't some capes cut length ways and others cut the other way? I believe the dimensions of the cape are the same just that some capes are shorter than others when on the Jawa.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Another big find for my palitoy cardback run. Thanks to Andy Clarke and Max Field for giving me the heads up on an ebay auction that had this bad boy in it:-

This card/figure combo was previously unverified on the palitoy matrix:-

I now have the first 12 on 41 backs:-

I think you will find this is down to wether the cape has been boiled or not. The longer capes tend to be completely original, whereas if you take the cape and immerse it in boiling water, you can then flatten it, take out any kinks and make tears look a lot better. It does reduce the length of the cape though as it shrinks.

Very interesting. I was wondering myself why one was half mast and the other seemed much longer!

Loving the cardbacks benny100 and Mr Palitoy - very envious as I haven't got any for yonks.
