Latest Acquisitions

A couple of recent trilogo additions:
- Meccano Biker Scout w/ UFO punch and black made in Macao sticker,
- Meccano Logray w/ made in Macao sticker, interesting that the AFA label mentions "Palitoy/Meccano" "Half circle punch/Macau" whereas AFA would usually not specify such features,
- black BSG, my first hybrid :),
- Meccano Leia Bespin gown, small bubble,
- Palitoy Original Leia,
- Meccano Tusken Raider, small bubble.

Cheeky little upgrade from my AFA Y75. A clear bubble 80. The lightly yellowed bubble on mine has always bugged me, and the few others that have popped up on eBay all had yellow bubbles. A couple were really bad. When this came up for auction it started at a pretty high starting price, which didn't get any bids. I managed to contact him after to do a deal. Just got it today and inspected it. The card is totally flawless apart from a very minor vein on the rear that's barely visible, yet it has an 80 grade, so I guessed it must have been graded recently due to what seems like overly harsh card grades by the AFA over the last year. Checked serial number, yep, graded November 17th 2015.[/quote

Awesome with that clear bubble mate 8)
Mine like most has a slight tinge. V tough to find with a clear bubble :!:

Heres a couple of pieces from the BIG PICK that slot into my collecting holes. First is a box of Dixie cups that has slave leia on them, to add to the handful of vintage slave leia things.

This is something that kicked off my latest collecting thing, which is ESB oddball items. It was so beautiful.. shame its never been opened, would love to see how it looks.

Great 30 back Han and has anyone else noticed how the A backs have this style of footer but the B backs have the V shaped ones? I think it's the same for the 30 back Hoth Stormtrooper.

Coming from you that's good to hear. I was worried even with negotiating a discount outside of eBay that I was still paying a bit over, but I had to go with the fact that a clear bubble on one of these is very rare, so had to go for it considering I've not seen one.

Some nice pieces already for 2016.

Went to my local cinema to watch TFA again. They gave me a TFA ticket booklet and from their archive a August 1983 ROTJ Ticket booklet. I also got a free viewing as it was my forth at this cinema.

I asked about the other star wars banners, but unfortunately they were all taken.

It was exciting watching the film as I was meant to be 'working from home'. At the end of the film I got approached by a boy, I guess the one who had requested all the banners. He walked over and gave me a TFA cinema Quad poster.

A little bit of history on my local cinema. It is the oldest in Wales (102 years old) and was going to be closed down. Because of community support, the cinema was saved, refurbished, yet keeping its vintage theatre feel, and was awarded Cinema of the Year by Screen Awards.

The success of the cinema means they are now going to add a second screen. I'm dead proud of this community project. It may not have the best screen, or the best sound, but the atmosphere and vintage history makes it far more glowing cinema experience than a multiplex.

Bottles of coke are £1, box of popcorn is £1.50 etc...£4.90 adult, £2.50 on wednedays. I love it.

Little bugger.

Blimey Grant...quite a haul!

I've seen TFA 8 times now at my local Odeon and all I've been given are postcards and flyers!

Just goes to show smaller cinemas look after customers more :D

Also congrats in the VCJ.....any plans to liberate it from its nasty UKG tomb?

Grant,

firstly - well done on the Jawa mate - always a good feeling knowing you have that figured ticked.

Secondly, the cinema stuff is incredible. I'm a massive fan of anything like this, it represents real cinema and SW history for me. The magic and excitement felt watching films on the cinema can be captured by something as small and as simple as a cinema ticket. The fact that your local cinema is not up there with 21st Century standards isn't important - money could never buy that feeling you get when you walk through the doors to buy your ticket. I'm glad it's still there and going strong - places like that really need to be preserved.

Sadly all my local cinemas where I saw the films have been demolished. The mutliplexes never captured that cinema experience magic for me.

The most treasured item I own is the 2 tickets I kept from when my son Zac and I went to see TFA together just before xmas.

Even though I never tire of seeing MOC's and MIB items, it's stuff like this that really floats my boat.

Cheers mate :)
Mark

Great pick ups there Grant! Love that cinema stuff :D

 Grant, legendary haul! When you said about the ROTJ ticket I thought you must have meant the relrelease or something.....not 1983! And to get those from your local cinema is brilliant. Wow. And what a nice gesture of the lad to give you the quad. I've been desperately hunting for the teaser and the quad but I refuse to pay £50 for the teaser and £150 for the full quad! Give it 6 months and they may settle down, especially when the cinemas are done with them, but at the moment they're going for silly money.

Andy, nice trilogo droids! EV is one of my favourites anyway but that IG-88 is beautiful.

Great purchases (and gifts!), everyone.
