Latest Acquisitions

So much to love in all of these pics. First of all, well done on the MOCs, Edd. I myself have been picking my spots lately and acquiring MOCs for $60 or less (I think that's 40 quid or so) as much as I can. A lot more fund.

Also, enjoy the Yan / Luke, Matth. He had quite a journey!

Yeah traveling from the Paris post office to my home took him twice as long as to traveling from the US to France!!

Not 100% sure where this part of set dressing came from, but its from the homestead. Could it be a piece of door panelling? Source is 100%

My 'Farthest From' haul; Top Toys Stormy from Jez and Harbert TIE from Mark via Lee.

The Stormy's in great condition; the TIE's bubble is cracked fairly comprehensively to the underside but it displays wonderfully (as does the Stormy) - dead chuffed with both pieces - a massive thank you to all 3 of you!

The current homestead in Tunisia is a replica built after the phantom menace. The original was scavenged by the local people years ago so they could repair their own houses and subsequently sold on to collectors (and probably where grants piece came from).
I believe one fan found parts of the krayt dragon skeleton being used to hold up a chicken hutch.

I'm referring to the caves which are actually still lived in, I did also visit the phantom menace set out in the dessert which was stunning

A few oddball items .. This electric toothbrush which is missing the brush bit unfortunately ( if someone can help me complete this please contact me :D ) and this coin holder .... Also these used toothbrushes . Now need to start finding the things I'm missing to complete these items ! Back to the Tomart it is !⚒

Over the moon with these. I'm now only 1 away from completing my run ESB cards.

While I'm waiting for that to materialise I'm busy on a run of Jedi figures on Jedi cards. Nick gave that run a shot in arm with these 4 at an amazing £20 a pop. Roll on December.

The homestead piece came from me, part of the haul I brought back in the mid nineties. The ones that were subsequently out there were replicated for phantom menace filming.

The underground hotel used for the interior shots is in a different location to Tozeur where the external shots took place and where this came from.

Back then, the locals had little real knowledge of the movie and I picked up a large section of the skywalker garage which was being used as a door prop and a complete Krayt dragon vertebrae being used as a fruit bowl !!! :)
Also brought back a load of bone fragments from the location, most of which went either through Christies auction house back in the day or to friends every now and again. The bits I've had at farthest from are the last spares I have left from all those years ago.

It was a different world out there back then before it became a popular tourist destination, I had to hire local guides and camels to get out to the locations !!
It's a great pity about the current climate in the country as it was an amazing place to visit and an amazing people to be amongst, unfortunately, nowadays instead of a camel and a rucksack you're more likely to require an armed escort :-(

I must dig out the pictures I took as it shows exactly how remote the location was, also have a picture of me on the crater staring up at the (imagined) binary sunset :)

Maybe a topic for a vintage rebellion podcast feature someday :) ......
