The homestead piece came from me, part of the haul I brought back in the mid nineties. The ones that were subsequently out there were replicated for phantom menace filming.
The underground hotel used for the interior shots is in a different location to Tozeur where the external shots took place and where this came from.
Back then, the locals had little real knowledge of the movie and I picked up a large section of the skywalker garage which was being used as a door prop and a complete Krayt dragon vertebrae being used as a fruit bowl !!!
Also brought back a load of bone fragments from the location, most of which went either through Christies auction house back in the day or to friends every now and again. The bits I've had at farthest from are the last spares I have left from all those years ago.
It was a different world out there back then before it became a popular tourist destination, I had to hire local guides and camels to get out to the locations !!
It's a great pity about the current climate in the country as it was an amazing place to visit and an amazing people to be amongst, unfortunately, nowadays instead of a camel and a rucksack you're more likely to require an armed escort :-(
I must dig out the pictures I took as it shows exactly how remote the location was, also have a picture of me on the crater staring up at the (imagined) binary sunset
