Amazing amazing amazing.
Awesome proofs, and very nice cardbacks.
Nick that Sandcrawler is something else. I thought you were slowing down and on the ropes but you're back with a beautiful uppercut to the thread, bravo!

Super excited about this one (not that exciting for anyone else) - it's taken me about 10 months to get this into my collection. Was first notified by a member here (Vinnie I think?) of it being for sale on a website. Well months later, and a pretty good deal being struck, I now have it in the collection.

I have the Kenner SW one, and the Canadian ESB one and now I have...

...the super rare Canadian ESB special offer 2 Free Jawas variant. Woohoo!

Whilst I can't really compete with the awesomeness of recent posts, I thought I would share the beginnings of my collection. After considering it for years, I began collecting last month and now wish I had made the move earlier! Everything from the hunt, receiving the figure in the post, handling it, reading up (again) on the character and then placing it on display has been worth it. The display aspect is somewhat lacking however; living in a lovely but tiny cottage and plans for glass display cabinets from IKEA are on hold until we move somewhere bigger. A man-cave has been promised.

So, the figures. Whilst I do not have a focus as such, I am especially pleased with my loose complete figures. Some members of the forum will recognise a few I am sure.......

I have also picked up a couple of loose vehicles, a B-Wing Fighter from Norwich Sci-Fi convention and an AT-ST from a local car boot. The latter in particular needs some cleaning up and a few bits like the hatch, but a nice mini-project to get me started. The electronics do not work on the B-wing, but I am going to try to fix them using the guide from the forum.

I then took a gamble on Ebay, purchasing the job lot below straight out of somebody's loft who admitted they knew little about Star Wars let alone vintage. Vader's Tie has loose wings which in one case appear to have been glued together and the overall look is rather tired, but it will do until a boxed one turns up! As for the figures, one or two are very well played with (as they should have been!) but Dengar, my second Vader, Fett and Droopy aren't too bad, just missing parts of or whole accessories. I will probably advertise the ones I don't plan to keep here then Ebay.

I also own a lovely Ewok village, for which space is an issue. The Mrs. has been very understanding thus far, but when I turned up home with the village she did comment "I want to punch it". Nice girl.

I will be posting on the wanted thread soon, hoping to accessorise my bits and pieces.

Cheers,
Jim.

 that sandcrawler is a beautiful sight...congrats on another superb piece Nick

Hoth Jim...great that your bitten by the bug, looking good bud love the B Wing and pilot, great watching this grow :D

great crawler and two free figures, never seen that set before very jealous!
and nice collection hothjim, what you have managed to buy is a cool start, enjoy the thrill of the hunt , glad you'll have it all displayed eventually

After much internal debate, I snagged this beaut on eBay and it arrived today.
I was concerned it might be fake in some way, but its exactly the same dimensions all over, weighs the same on my electronic scales, all markings etc suggest its the same as its standard piece on the left, just unpainted... Could it be a prototype/first shot or a factory error? Either way - I love it!

Am afraid it is just a paint stripped standard figure - you can even see some of the remains of the paint around the corners - hope you didn't pay too much - still looks good though

Thanks for the tip Iain. Nothing crazy money wise thankfully, I paid what I thought he was worth even as a potential fake based on how much I liked the look... and he does look great!
I think the paint traces you're seeing is possibly refections in my photography, although you're probably still right, there is nothing there even under a magnifying glass and even if I move all the limbs round, crisp clean creamy white all over even in the seams; I'll bring it to FF if you like to let your keen eye take a look though as I value your opinion.
I really don't mind if it is stripped though, as I say, looks great, it cost what I thought its worth looks wise and an interesting curiosity in the collection and I'm happy with that :D

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm not surprised many of you picked up on the B-Wing, chuffed with that myself. Best bit about it was that I purchased it off a chap dressed as Darth Vader at Norwich Sci-Fi convention. I did manage to pull off a Jedi mind trick and haggle him down slightly. That transaction must have looked interesting from afar.

Hoping to add to my collection at London Comic Con in July, so will pop any pics on here, which I promise will be in better light this time.

Cheers,
Jim.

I'm sorry if you've been ripped off with that figure (I don't know how it was described).

The figure reminds me of the conversions that collectors made of the original figures in the late 80s and early 90s. I painted a C-3P0 white myself and added two red dots on the chest to turn it into the Hoth protocol droid. This figure could be made into that character easily (but leave out the scorch marks, as that was the damage it sustained when the roof came in and crushed it!).

Craig.
