Whilst I can't really compete with the awesomeness of recent posts, I thought I would share the beginnings of my collection. After considering it for years, I began collecting last month and now wish I had made the move earlier! Everything from the hunt, receiving the figure in the post, handling it, reading up (again) on the character and then placing it on display has been worth it. The display aspect is somewhat lacking however; living in a lovely but tiny cottage and plans for glass display cabinets from IKEA are on hold until we move somewhere bigger. A man-cave has been promised.
So, the figures. Whilst I do not have a focus as such, I am especially pleased with my loose complete figures. Some members of the forum will recognise a few I am sure.......
I have also picked up a couple of loose vehicles, a B-Wing Fighter from Norwich Sci-Fi convention and an AT-ST from a local car boot. The latter in particular needs some cleaning up and a few bits like the hatch, but a nice mini-project to get me started. The electronics do not work on the B-wing, but I am going to try to fix them using the guide from the forum.
I then took a gamble on Ebay, purchasing the job lot below straight out of somebody's loft who admitted they knew little about Star Wars let alone vintage. Vader's Tie has loose wings which in one case appear to have been glued together and the overall look is rather tired, but it will do until a boxed one turns up! As for the figures, one or two are very well played with (as they should have been!) but Dengar, my second Vader, Fett and Droopy aren't too bad, just missing parts of or whole accessories. I will probably advertise the ones I don't plan to keep here then Ebay.
I also own a lovely Ewok village, for which space is an issue. The Mrs. has been very understanding thus far, but when I turned up home with the village she did comment "I want to punch it". Nice girl.
I will be posting on the wanted thread soon, hoping to accessorise my bits and pieces.
Cheers,
Jim.
