Japanese TFA Trailer (New scenes!)

Oh yeah!! The more I see the more I love it.

I'm looking forward to the back-story on Ren's lightsabre. Its a scruffy lookin' thing.

At first I was one of the 'haters' on that lightsabre, but the more I've seen of it in action, the more I think it's one of the coolest weapons in sci fi lore.

It's roughness makes it all the more deadly looking.

I wonder if Grant C has seen this yet :D

I can just imagine him at home in the valleys unable to blink, speak or even move..

This is bad form, this doesnt belong here in this section :D  one rule for mods and another for the peasants :D

Im really sorry to say this, but BB-8 looks and sounds like absolute shite - just doesnt look as great as what he is made out to be.

You just have to find your inner you Lee! The Lee that would get lost for hours in imaginary far away worlds, dreaming up adventures as a child, playing with your toys and wishing he was a Jedi too!

Give in Lee!! :p

Lol Joe :) As i said the other day, im warming to it but BB-8 is probably the only thing that i cannot stand.

Man, they should have brought back R5-D4 with a new motivator and not this pair of ball bearings. Imagine the feeling that would have evoked :D

I really enjoyed it - funnily enough I had about 8 people send me the link on FB because they know how much I love SW.

Really odd that one of my FB friends tagged me on the link too. I guess he never got the memo....

Yeah, I have a very negative attitude towards this film, but right from the first trailer, I have used BB-8 as an example of why I have zero interest. I did watch this new trailer, and while some of the scenes were shot beautifully, nothing resonated with me at all to get me interested. BB-8 continues to annoy the **** out of me.

One thing I noticed. Was that Chewbacca's body lying under a crying Rey?

How can anyone dislike bb8, especially after JarJar!
It seems a really charming droid in the vein of R2.
Loved that trailer, as others have said the lack of score on this highlights the genius of Williams new score that had been plastered across the previous trailers.
I think that's enough footage for me know though, I'm completely hooked in a way I never was for the prequels, job done I bought my midnight screening ticket!

While I don't think BB-8 is the best thing since sliced bread, I'm quite surprised anyone could actually be annoyed by her or even hate on her (heard it was a she!). It was inevitable that we would get a new droid at some point and isn't R2 just as "annoying" with the noises he makes or the way he moves? No..but that's because R2 is who we grew up with :) Honestly though..there isn't much difference between the two of them is there??

I get that it's super easy to be critical of the new film, especially if you are comparing it to the OT, but we all know it won't ever be the same and it will never mean as much to any of us as those first three films always will. From what we've seen of TFA so far though, I'm pretty confident in saying that it's going to be infinitely better than any of the **** we had to endure with the prequels.

As a SW fan, for as much as I try..I honestly find it very hard to resist anything I see that has lightsaber duels, TIE fighters battling X-Wings and pretty much anything else Star Wars. Whether it's fan films, video games or even the prequels (yes I've watched them more than once!)...you name it I'll watch it, play it or read it and usually I enjoy it!

I don't think there is anyone on this forum that really believes TFA will be the best SW film ever but I find it hard to understand how anyone can con bring a negative attitude to every single thread about it when it's bringing us more of what we love! :(

It's perfectly fine to have your own opinion of course and I would probably feel the same if the preview trailers showed Mickey and Minnie running around with lightsabers..but they don't! The film really looks ****ing amazing AND dark..which IMO is just what the franchise needed after the drivel GL brought to our screens time after time during the prequel years! Yet for some reason, it's still being ripped apart?

I say give the film the chance it deserves from the fans! Go in the cinema with an open mind, watch it and then comment. None of us know what's in store for us and who knows, even those that hate everything about the trailers will be pleasantly surprised!

If it's shite and your opinion hasn't changed then go for it, dissect the film all you want and point out all the faults JJ has made, I'm sure there will be anti TFA forums popping up all over the internet full of people who feel the same too!

I'm honestly really excited about TFA, I could care less about the merchandise and all of the **** that comes along with it but I really want to watch a good Star Wars film...something we haven't had since the 80's!

/rant (PS I'm just a little tired of seeing people shut off from the forums completely and complain about them elsewhere because of the TFA hate...)

Joe,

I wasn't anywhere people were moaning about the forum, then again I don't do FB :D

Sorry if I offend anyone, but as I said im warming to it.

I can see this film having a massive impact on the younger generations of today, much in the same way the OT had on our generations. Although I doubt it will be quite a seminal as ANH, it will undoubtably ensure the legacy of SW lives on for another 40years and beyond.

My post wasn't aimed at anyone in particular Lee! I saw Grant has given up on the forums for a while due to a combination of things (including TFA hate) and I saw a bunch of people picking apart the trailer on FB too. Yesterday I also noticed Bruce W (Mr Velvet Geek!) had posted that people were complaining about Carrie being "too old".. I mean come on, where does it end? lol

In a way though, I do understand. There are bound to be people who feel strongly about things when their favourite movie(s) are tinkered with or new ones come out and actually there is another film franchise that I absolutely adore which is going to get a reboot which doesn't fill me with excitement (Ghostbusters!) but even though 90% of GB fans are running around the internet ranting and raving about it all, personally I've already chosen not to watch it and that's that. I've not told anyone..or joined in with the complaining..life is too short! Which is why I can't understand why people are happy to bash something they haven't seen if they aren't even sure if they are going to watch it? With GB though, no amount of reboots, spin offs or anything else they pump out can harm the films I love because I can always watch 1 (and perhaps 2 ;) ) in their original state at any time I want.. same goes for SW. If however, the original cast of GB had been brought together like the fans always wanted (just like JJ did with TFA) and the film looked as awesome as the TFA trailers do then I would absolutely be buying tickets the second they went on sale!

I just think negativity aimed at things that are out of your control is a complete waste of time and effort that's all, they'll be made whatever people say. Nobody is going to stop TFA from coming with their negative posts, complaints or fanboy suggestions so they are pointless. Our only job as fans is to choose whether or not we want to support it, by going to see it or not. If you aren't going then why waste time talking about it and how bad it's going to be? If you do go and support the film but it's as **** as you thought it was going to be then of course you have every right to comment on it, but only after you've seen it :)

If you or Ian or anyone else complaining about TFA paid good money to see any (or all) of the prequels..(which are 90% tripe) simply because you were SW fans then IMO you've got to do the same for TFA ;)

You know something Lee? I really, really, really, really want you to go see it and come back to tell us you loved it :D haha!

No, no, Joe, you have the wrong idea of why I am refusing to watch them.

I saw TPM 11 times at the theater. 8-9 times for AOTC, and ROTS, the best one, only 5-6 times. I watched them because I love SW, and they are nowhere near as bad as everyone thinks they are.

The trailers look fine for TFA (aside from personal dislikes such as BB-8 - I find it hard to understand the love for that beach ball). As a movie, I don't think it's going to be bad at all. It may even be great. I am just holding a personal protest because I am a 100% George Lucas purist. I have given EU material a chance in the past, and 99% of it - to me - is crap. I have got no interest whatsoever in someone else's vision for SW, no matter how good/bad it may be. The prequels were not perfect, but they came from Lucas, and to me, SW is exclusively the vision of Lucas. Anything else is glorified fan fiction. The fact Disney is involved makes it worse, as I despise almost everything they have made in the form of live action movies. I'm not even a fan of The Avengers and their related films.

BB-8 isn't why I'm not watching. Between theaters and home video, I've seen TPM and AOTC probably close to 40 times total - but I find what they did with C-3PO in those movies to be a far bigger disgrace than anything involving Binks. It's ok to hate aspects of a movie but still love the film itself, which, if I did see TFA and loved it, would be the case here with the new droid.

And that's really it. Why do I comment? Because I am a fan of SW, and hang out on SW forums. At RS, and in the FB groups I belong to, it's vintage toy discussion that's being infiltrated with TFA talk. I will comment on any thread in those sections/groups that get posted there, positive or negative. I kept my one comment in this movie thread fairly light hearted actually, agreeing with Lee on a point about BB-8 and not really discussing the movie itself, and how a friend of mine linked me to the new trailer, I guess not knowing how I feel about it. I don't hang out in the modern movie sections of RS, and don't belong to any film groups on FB. But if a comment/thread is made somewhere I do visit, I will contribute my thoughts. And as for Grant, I got the impression he was mostly staying away due to potential spoilers, not so much negativity (and he's still posting anyway ;) ).

Having said that, I can see from reactions that it's the same here for some as it is at RS or FB. If it isn't blind fanboy circle jerking, different opinions are not welcome. :(

Oh man, that does look a bit like Chewie Ian. I hadn't noticed that. Hmmmmm.

In the second scene with the ship taking off almost vertically across the sand, is that an AT-AT foot in the foreground?

Like Ian, im a Lucas man. I actually liked the PT an extent, but ive noticed that most call it shite, crap ,awful and so on. Do i care? Nah as everyone is entitled to an opinion. Its a film saga for Christ sakes, not real life.

Im going to see the movie and see if im proved wrong. Not expecting to be,but you never know. :D
