Really? No we don't. Restaurants here pretty much stick to their chosen ethnic cuisine. :lol:
That said there are a bunch of really crappy Chinese joints who decided back in the 70's to adjust their style to suit western tastes, lots of battered chicken and cashew nuts.
In Melbourne we are really fortunate to have a hugely diverse amount of authentic restaurants from around the world. I used to live in an area that had a large Vietnamese population with a good mix of Indian, Thai, Greek, Turkish and Italian thrown in. Usually these areas are where you find the places cook more traditional dishes and once you've had an authentic experience the rest just taste bland.
We moved to the fringe of the city last year and have struggled to find a decent place to get a meal in the time we've been here, even most of the pubs are corporate run with kids play grounds built in right next to the pokies churning out frozen chicken parmas by the bucket load. Blah! :x
If I ever get the chance to visit the UK I'll certainly be hunting down a chicken chowmein wrapped in news paper, extra vinegar please. :lol:
