I am worried sick

Best wishes for the op Frank, my thoughts are with her and the rest of your family.

This forum always amazes me and I have to at times gets me a bit choked up. When somebody is ill or a family member is, the amount of support you get is amazing. Alot of guys on here have never met so only know each other through words on screen like myself. Yet to me this place is a second family, I hate hearing stories like Frank's, Bram's and Browny's and I just hope they all get better soon.

Anyway, mushy stuff over, wish your daughter well from me Frank.

Thank you all so much for the kind words of support, I know you have my back guys & it is greatly appreciated, just had to share as I moved to the middle of nowhere 2 years back & don't know many folks here, funnily enough I am closer to you guys I have never met that the folks I know round here & knew you would all be ok with me venting here.

Right a little update, she will in fact be going for 2 opp's today not just the one, they plan to re drain the sinuses again while she is under to minimise the risk of further infection in the sinuses, & the doctors have been really great, I have to say the whole team at the Alder hey Hospital have been a credit to the NHS system, a system I usually have little faith in, but they are doing a sterling job so far.

The bitch is that she will need 3 weeks of I.V antibiotics & 3 weeks of oral antibiotics following the op & due to where we live there is no outreach team so she can have them administered at home which is piss poor as she will have to miss half the school holidays, I did say what about being transferred to Leicester as we have lots of family there & she could go to family to stay - the answer is bloody ridicules, she can't be transferred (to the city/hospital where she was born) as we are now in a different catchment area & although NHS is national each district has its own funding & Leicester will not take her as it will come out of there funding, I am bloody livid, so instead of her being able to be at home amongst friends & family, she has to stay in hospital for a further 3 weeks at least, so which would cost the NHS more in the long run?? FFS!!

Bureaucracy at it's finest Frank, it's so hard because the only people you can show your frustration too ( the nurses ) are just as frustrated as you ( my wifes a nurse and cops this sort of government stupidity regularly ).

Just keep your chin up mate, I know it's easier said than done when you have a little one unwell but as you said she's in good hands and sometimes a good part of the medication is a positive attitude.

Take care mate and all the best.

Ryan

Other than the steel plate and the pain, it sounds like she will come out of this fine. Life is full of suprises and sometimes they are unwanted ones. Just tell her everything is fine and spoil the **** out of her. Keep us posted.

Hospitals over here are no better, so I know the feeling and frustration.

Sad to hear the news Frank. My thoughts are with you buddy. I've got 2 little uns and I can't even begin to imagine what this is like.
I hope it all goes ok buddy.
Lee.

Mate your and your family are in my thoughts. I really hope everything will be OK with you guys. I worry sick about my Padawans all the time so I know how your feeling.

All the best Frank.

We don't really know what fear and anxiety are until we have children, I feel your fear and wish we could do more than give you supportive messages.

As the guys have said, she is in the best place, our doctors are better than ever. Hope she gets back home as soon as possible. She will be in our prayers.

Wishing you all well.

Thanks for all the words of support guys, its been a very very long day for us all, she ended up having to go for 2 operations the second being to re flush her sinus's to reduce the chance of any further infection, the health care staff have in general been really good with only minor hiccups & she came through the operations ok, sadly one of the surgical tools broke & a further incision had to be made to remove it, which has left her with quite bad facial swelling but a small price to pay, apparently there was a huge build up of puss, so good they got to it when they did, she was not in the best off spirits when she came round & has been rather low in mood, but after a good sleep & some of her mothers cooking she managed to crack a smile & seems to be feeling a little better.

They will be keeping monitoring equipment on her for the next 24 hours to make sure all is well, but fingers crossed the worst of it is now over or at least that's what I keep trying to tell myself.

& huge hats off to Ryan who has kindly offered to do a get well soon card for her, I simply can not express my gratitude enough for the kind gesture on his part & for all of your support guys.

Glad to hear she seems to be through the worst of it. Hopefully the road to recovery will be a short one.

I'd missed this thread Frank, really sorry to hear that your daughter is going through such a bad time. You and your family must be going out of your minds.

Glad she's getting through it, and here's to a speedy recovery

Off to see her now, its not the best news, apparently its a really virralent bug & apparently she is lucky :? that its not worse as most suffer worse with this from what I am told, she has had med's upped & will now need antibiotics/pain killers 6 times a day & have to stay in for at least 6 weeks which is all the summer holidays ****ed for her, poor love she is not that happy, but stable so I am thankfully, I will relay all your wishes to her & give her a big SWFUK group hug from you guys!

I have cooked up some special deep fried spicy chicken drumsticks for her, so fingers crossed that will raise a smile - hospital food

Sounds awful but at least she is in safe hands. The Drs & nurses who look after kids in hospital are great.

You have our continued support mate, all the best

Glad to hear she's on the mend Frank, just a shame she has to stay in for the whole of the summer holiday's. Best place for her though.

How's the rest of the family coping Frank??
