How long do you wait before relisting?

I put a bunch of figures up here for sale, and ones that didn't sell I put on eBay determined to get at least what I paid for them. I had this AFA 60 DSC up for about a week as a BIN for £350. It sold on Thursday evening, but no payment was made, so thought I'll wait until Friday. Friday afternoon comes, nothing, so I message them, nothing by 4am Saturday morning before I go to bed, so I relist it. I wake up Saturday afternoon and someone else has bought and paid for it. Box it up. Then comes the email "sorry, I was having trouble with my Paypal account, all paid for". Firstly, I thought when you relisted something, the previous sale is scrubbed out and the winner wouldn't be able to buy it?? Secondly, why didn't they at least respond to my message, or tell me any problems? Who knows, but refunded the first buyer in full and explained why. Just thought it was a time waster.

Anyway, would you have done things the same in the same time frame?

I don't think you have done anything wrong. I don't understand with buy it now why the buyer doesen't have to pay straight away anyway. The listing shoulden't be removed until paid for IMO, same with best offer.

I always ask for payment within 24 hours on the ad , if they don't pay , I relist

If I buy it now , I always let the buyer know I will pay for it

Too many dickheads on eBay

I think it might say "Immediate Payment required" but there doesn't seem to any sort of "otherwise item will be relisted in 30 minutes"

I don't think you really did anything wrong - but the first guy can still Neg you as you didn't follow eBay procedure - you need to open a non payment case after 3 days and then have it closed with a return of your final value fees after 7 days I believe

At the moment, as well as being able to leave you a neg - if the first buyer doesn't agree to cancel the sale then you will also be liable for two lots of sales fees as well

Yeah like Iain said, you've got to do it the non-payment way because otherwise you'll get shafted for 2 lots of final fees. The non-payment route is the only way to get them back normally.

I'd try to get the first guy to agree to cancel and tell him it's because he didn't pay or communicate with you that the problem has arisen. If you're polite he might be fine about it. Despite the idiots we all come across, there are plenty of decent buyers around and it was his fault after all

I refunded the item immediately and left a message explaining why I relisted. I then cancelled the item. Got successful "order cancelled" and "your refund was successful" messages.

I don't get what that relist option is if the item is still available to buy by the first buyer.

Have you checked your fees to see if you have had the sellers fees refunded for the first purchase

Out of interest, was the credit refunded within 24 hours?

Pat

Was a little while ago now, not sure about timings. It was all smooth as far I remember.
