Hi just wondering how long do you give someone to pay for an ebay item? Sold some figures on the 29th at 2.20am and they still haven't paid. Have sent an invoice and an e-mail and nothing no response nothing. They have have 1 negative as a seller but as a buyer seems ok but every time have sold some thing in the past been instant payment.

You can't leave negative feedback for a buyer. Ebay removed that option years ago, and unfortunately, some buyers take advantage of that. :(

Personally, I sent an invoice as soon as I can. If it goes three days, I send another. I have my preferences set to automatically open a non-paying bidder claim in either 6 or 8 days, but if it's a newbie seller with no feedback, or someone with negatives, I'll open the case earlier. Just went through it two weeks ago, actually. Guy sent me a Best Offer, I accepted, and then nothing. I actually waited 4-5 days, and sent another invoice with nothing. Buyer had 8 feedback. I opened the case, and he contacts me the next day, promising to pay "as soon as he gets his cheque". Another weeks passes, and I almost proceeded with the case, when he actually paid. Now I'm making him wait. ;) Been two days. I'll get to it by Monday.....maybe.

Hi Ian thanks for the info. Will give them till Monday if nothing then will open a case will warn people to block this person from ebay on the ebay block list. Thanks again mate.

I always highlight payments to be made within 24 hours , if after 48 hrs start a non payment case . Too many bloody non payers on eBay now , I had 4 out of my last 6 sales .

Stopping eBay , too much shite

I asked this question a few months back when I sold a graded 12 back. 3 days and nothing, so relisted and it sold with hours as BIN, suddenly the previous winner suddenly paid and apologised. I assumed if you relist an item the option for the previous winner to pay is removed. What a stupid system! I only gave it 3 days as it was a BIN, so if they were able to press to BIN, then they should have been able to pay just as fast.

I don't have a set number of days before I relist, it will be down to what it was. If it sold for a very good price I'd give it several days as I might not get such a good price again. If it went well below what I wanted, I might relist in 24h :D .

If there was a top ten list of "wastes of time", filing an eBay dispute would be at the top. I assumed eBay/Paypal would then pay for the item, then chase the buyer to get their money back. I mean that's why we pay them such a big bloody chunk of a percentage. Nope, doesn't happen. All they do is message them, which you can do your bloody self! At the end if they haven't paid they get a note on their account, but that doesn't stop them buying or trading. :x

If a buyer can bid at the last second or click buy it now, then they can pay 30 seconds later. If under these circumstances they didn't pay within an hour I'd be annoyed.

When I win an auction, I pay straight away without any delay at all.

I was just about to winge about a buyer not paying as its been nearly been 24 hours that i sold something. Ha ha 3 days i quoted in this thread in november  i must be getting a grumpy old man clearly :|

It happens to me all the time. Also keep getting people not reading my listings. You say it's collection only and they buy it when they're 300 miles away, or you say no posting abroad and they buy it when they're in Venezuela. Had loads of people buy and then not pay, recently sold some expensive Armani shades, they didn't pay, didn't reply to messages, had to relist. Generally as a rule if they don't pay in 24 hours, they prob aren't going to :x

I can understand some folk not paying straight away since their desperate for the item but don't get payed till the end of the month or something.
They should still let you know the score though.
I remember the days when sellers could leave -ve feedback that concept seems rather bizarre now.

I don't understand that at all, if they haven't got enough money, they absolutley should not bid.

I don't mind giving a buyer leeway as long as they let me know immediately and it's within an agreed timescale.

I wouldn't give them any leway if they bidded before asking me, they are basically using you as a bank.
