horror movie chat

A lot of people seem to be really traumatised by American Werewolf. It's a really great film, probably in my top 20, but not all that scary in my opinion. A couple of scenes seem to have been jammed in their for shock value, scenes that I don't feel add much to the movie - those would be the nightmare clips. The one that was previously mentioned where he wakes up with zombie eyes and the one where the gun toting Nazi guys come through the window. Pretty ****ed up

There are enough great horror scenes and a decent plot ..and as a bonus we get Jenny Agutter looking damn fine :p

Agree, as I'm a wuss and not a zombie killer, flesh eating, chainsaw toting, slash and gash fan, I actually love the American Werewolf film....can't think of it with out hearing bad moon rising...awesome fit for the film ( credence Clearwater from the 70s)

All in all a great film IMHO :D :D always gets a watch on Halloween 8)

Same here. Not into slasher nasty violent **** like some of the new breed films such as Hostel, Scream etc. Love these older flicks because of the atmospheric vintage feel and the characters tend to be better in some ways ..maybe it's just that they are more familiar. Not sure.

The Shining is brilliant for this. That movie is jam packed with atmosphere. It's a master piece. I should ask the Mrs more in depth stuff because she studied The Shining as part of her degree. What a great course that must have been :)

I again am in the same mind, think you've got it spot on with relating to characters, and a vintage feel to these films, the fact
That Nicholson is in it and he always looks like he could flip at any moment

Cool subject for a degree 8)

Tell me you've stuck your head through a door and shouted " here's Barry"

started watching salems lot .gonna watch second disc tonight .got lords of salem through lovefilm as well but not holding much hope out

I want to get back into Nightmare On Elm Street. There must be a box set on Amazon. Used to love them. Must have been about 11 at the time. No way I would let our kids watch stuff like that these days. Thank god for shitty, naive 1980's parenting

Used to love Lost Boys. But have you seen it lately? Personally i reckon it looks really dated. It's the clothes, hair and the music! All very cool at the time but the vamps look like members of Def Leppard. It's one movie I reckon they should do a remake of.

Yeah, still love it though, they made 2 more lost boys films...they were **** though

another golden oldie i loved was stephen kings IT with pennywise the clown

Woop! Just bought the Nightmare On Elm Street collection on Amazon for £5 :D Love the first few movies. Not sure about the rest. Watched that 3D one at the cinema years ago. It was ok. More of a comedy than anything else.

Many imaginative deaths in the collection. Looking forward to some sick and twisted violence.

What do you chaps reckon to be the best one?
