Ok i know this isnt a very nice topic but there is heated debates all over, and i for one felt better getting my thoughts out.

My stomach hasnt been turned in a while but when i watched the footage i felt physically sick and shocked.

We as a country NEED the death sentence for crimes like this, the people and children that saw that....i am honestly lost for words.

Now racism is high, people are angry and rightly so, this needs to be dealt with properly and start punishment for this and even things like marches and holding terrorist signs ect otherwise more hate crimes will continue.

I can't even watch the news about this. Words cannot describe the disgust the death penalty is too good for scum like that.

Tensions are rising more than ever now, this will be the tipping point for many I guarantee a surge in UKIPs popularity.

To be honest, I was glad to see that this hadn't been added as a topic on here. A couple of the football forums that I am on are full of comments on this and to be honest I am sick of reading the racist / xenophobic crap contained in some of the messages on there.

These guys that committed this murder, whatever colour, whatever religion, are scum and deserve whatever punishment is given to them by their peers. The fact that the victim was a solider shouldn't matter but I do understand why it does - any death be it hear, in Iraq or Afghanistan is sad and in most cases needless.

However, I am sick of the hatred that these sort of acts breed. The EDL do not represent me or the vast majority of the people that I know - why do our media give them a voice. And in turn, why do the media feel the need to sensationalise these types of acts. There is a very good piece from Charlie Brooker that I saw last night that give food for thought as to how the media as a whole deals with these sorts of events

The people are scared and it triggers pigeon-holing all muslims which is wrong, i can guarantee probably 100 lives will be saved by our muslim doctors today, but in times of panic people forget that.

The EDL are just pure thorough racists, i agree we should be more strict with importing people and punishing allowing preaching of hatred in mosks but thats as far as it goes.

these terrorists are a minority, but the key is showing some balls and dealing with them properly, give them the death sentence and say if you preach hatred you get deported and thats it.

No British Government would do it - poncy rich tosspot or not. But I agree that the preaching of hatred needs to be stopped

What made me very uneasy about yesterdays coverage was the video of the killer being played out - surely this is the very reason why these men committed such an act

The argument comes with the politics that have lead to this situation arising and the ignorance on both sides of the fence that leads to blinkered views on the subject...

There were a lot of HTH t-shirts running the Marathon this year, frightening really. But fear is one of the goals of these attacks, and the media likes to whip up a bit of fear too.

If you bring that in for **** like this those same idiots who are twisting young/naïve/impressionable Muslims minds will use it as another weapon. "Look what they are doing to your Muslim brothers, they are actually executing them in their prisons...."

Lock them up and leave them there. Even in our ridiculously cushy prisons 25 years is a long long time to sit about.


I also heard that one of the guys spoke English with no discernible accent. It doesn't necessarily mean he IS English or British or was born here, but it would certainly imply if he isn't born and raised here he's lived here for a long time. That shoots down the "foreigner" argument espoused by the EDL knuckle draggers.

Agree with you on the death-penalty. I don't want to get into a big debate about the DP but in my opinion killing as a punishment is the act of an ignorant and backward society. It feeds and serves nothing but our most primal desires which are usually at the heart of the crimes being punished. But in THIS case more than any, it's not appropriate. Mainly because it's what these people want. They want to be made martyrs. Apparently these guys waited around for the police to arrive- apparently armed with a gun they had not used in the killing. This to me says they were hoping to go out in a blaze of "glory". I for one was very pleased to hear the police didn't actually kill them. Being kept alive is a MUCH worse punishment for these men.
I know it would never happen but i'd like to see those preaching and promoting racial or religious hate extradited. And that includes white british people. Unfortunately our government can't even figure out how to get rid of non-citizens so one thing at a time i guess.
I too wish prisons weren't such holiday camps but i've also always believed that the money spent on locking people up, in a general sense (obviously it needn't be so much!), is money well spent. It's the one thing i'm more than happy to fork out for. I actually think there are way too many people walking the streets who shouldn't be. Severe punishment for all and any hate preaching from whites, asians, anyone, in public or on social networks, forums etc should be made the standard. Prison terms would soon see people shut their ignorant hateful gobs. And before you talk about freedom of speech, this is another thing ignorant idiots don't quite understand the workings of. Preaching hatred and prejudice does not fall under this statute.
