I have a memory of going to a toy shop and being excited that Jawa's now have cloth capes instead of plastic ones.
Does anyone else have memories of the changeover?........ - Or did I dream the whole thing!! :?

I had a vinyl one and was made aware of the cloth one when my mates brother showed me his. Both my friend and I thought the vinyl one looked better although thinking about it now it really looks nothing like what they were wearing in the film. maybe it was just because all the other figures had vinyl ones so it seemed to fit in better.

As for seeing the change over in shops, i don't remember even seeing a jawa for sale as it was always the hardest one to pick up from the first 12 released (well, where I was living). It's interesting that you say you remember seeing vinyl ones for sale as there's been a whole lot of debate on this topic for years. If you had one as a child do you still have the card back that it came off of? I'm sure there are a lot of people who would love to know if it was Palitoy or Kenner.

See this is the problem - I dont actually remember seeing Vinyl cape Jawas only the cloth cape ones, my memory however is thinking - great cloth cape that's better. (hence is it a false memory :? )

Sorry mate no backing cards

My cousin had a VCJ, I remember it quite well and its one of the reasons I was a Palitoy VCJ believer and as with you Andy I always thought the cloth cape looked better. A lot better...

Kenner/Palitoy where right to upgrade the cape to make up for the smaller figure, and the side effect of this change was even better.

I'm too young to remember the change-over but sure i remember seeing both. I've always preferred the cloth caped Jawas. Did then and still do now.

Not got a clue as my early sw memory is rubbish but I do prefer the look of the cloth myself :)

I think my brother (4 years my senior) might have had one. I just remember thinking excellent cloth capes - more for your pocket money!
