Friday 4th Sept

One thing I've noticed is yet again all the figures have generic packaging, just like the POTF2 and more recent ones. Why do they do that these days, is it to make them easier for kids to pick out in a shop? surely they must realise the massive character photos on the vintage MOCs is one of the reasons they were so cool. And at £9.99 a piece, they can hardly claim they can't afford to print unique cards!

Yeah the cardback is dire, very little imagination gone into it. I'd have hoped that due to JJ using a lot of old filmaking techniques and practical effects, bringing back the original actors and trying to give fans a taste of what they loved about the originals that Hasbro might have followed suit. New figures could be so cool if they made them more retro and gave at least a nod to the vintage packaging. I just can't believe that with such a massive SW film release this is what they came up with, and Disney ok'd it! I just hope the kids like them, that's what it's all about at the end of the day.

Yeah collectors cant really complain when they are aimed for kids and with alot of vintage collectors always trying to belittle other collectors who like modern stuff... so they dont have to buy them

Absolutely! Black Series are more for collectors.

My kids LOVE the new figures! Got the Kylo Ren in front of me and it's actually a really good figure. In fact, out of the 9 my boys bought yesterday, the only one I'm not impressed with is Poe Dameron. The troopers are all superb as well.

I actually left a FB group today as was sick of the pettiness.

I was so hyped up for this event and to be honest 5 minutes after i got home with captain phasma and kylo ren I was thinking WTF i just spent 20 quid on 2 figures im already bored with but oh well.

Once more of an assortment turn up it will be fun

Just remember, when you were a kid you didn't really give two ****s about the packaging. I used to rip em' open in a second to get the figure out! It's only collector mentality and this culture of not opening things that makes us debate the look of them.

I have to say that here in the states, I do not see a flimsy cheaply made x-wing at a price point of $50 affordable to purchase for children. At that price point I would expect a little more....like the figure actually fits in the cockpit and the plastic is not that of the grade of a McDonalds toy.

forgot to add that the new tiefighter has rubbery struts.

Yes, that's day light rubbery...

Super markets are a good shout. A few don't seem to have any stock yet. My local Tesco is getting their stock in on Thurs/Fri this week.

Totally underwhelmed.
Neither me or the kids bought anything which is a bit crazy considering we are the uber fan family.
Leo did like the Kylo Saber so i think he'll be going back for that. Imy liked the Chewie mask but at £30 she had her doubts.
Both were keen on BB8 but there were none to be found.
I think deep down they/we are waiting to go to Disney Florida next month to get fairer prices and more choice.
Some crap stuff out of late, i mean what was the whole Star Wars Command centre stuff about??

Hopefully the madness will help to bring down the price of vintage, but i doubt it.

Is this from the TFA movie?
Or from some other line?

Shouldn't this be classed as a character reveal, I haven't heard mention of it, not even a picture until now...

Where did you get this?? I've looked everywhere!!!

Popped into the Disney Store in Liverpool 1 and the assistant was determined to ask me what I was looking for and what did I think of the new stuff. Unable to ignore her I said the BB8 and she told me the next big thing will be a flying Millennium Falcon for about £80.

Did a bit of research and found this. Looks pretty cool and there's an X-Wing as well.

Thinking this might be the Christmas must have for 2015.

Both are firmly on the Christmas list.

If only they could do a Tie Fighter/Bomber/Interceptor. What a dog fight that would be :D Think the X-Wing will be more fun than the Falcon, personally.

As a helicopter guy I can honestly say that civilian Drone/SUA operators scare the bejesus out of me cuz they generally (most) have no idea of airmanship and air safety. The risks these things pose to low flying aircraft is really significant.
Having said that, after having seen the falcon and X-wing, am I gonna get one? **** yeah!!
Awesome!

Surely a real life chopper would smash one of them drone things to bits and then back to base for tea and medals

You'd think dude, but alas no. Aviation is inherently dangerous. We've lost platforms and personnel due to bird strikes let alone drone strikes. It's just a matter of time before something bad happens.
It's easy to spot other aircraft and gliders but these things are so small.
When travelling at 120+mph you don't get much reaction time when you see something this small coming up against you.
My guys have reported 4 near misses in August alone.
If the CAA etc are concerned...
But anyway, I want one. I'll just be responsible.
They do look sweet

I suspect the toy Falcon RC drone wont have much range, as I don't believe it's one with a camera so the guy with the controller would have to keep it in sight.

I think its the expensive camera ones that are more of an issue, especially if troublemakers start using them to invade privacy (paparazzi, burglars scoping out a property, nosey neighbours, etc). I already heard about one being flown into the Emirates stadium.

I think they're cool - particularly when styled like Star Wars spaceships - but here in the UK we actually do have a lot of trees compared to many countries so not the easiest environment to fly them in.
