FAKES..

Hi guys really paranoid about this latest purchase for some reason, could just be me, but check the pics and tell me if all looks good.

thanks, in the flesh the card name looks darker and the year copyright text looks dull white and the same on the Made in text, but looks like the same card

Probably being worried for nothing but would appreciate feedback.

Cheers mark

Is there any way to tell if a Lando cape is real or not ? the one i have on the last 17 lando looks right compared to ones i have seen that are wrong but it just seems too clean to me .

With regard to fakes on ebay, i thought ebay were totally against fakes and if found to be selling any fake or repro item (not just star wars) then your listings get pulled and you can be banned. Is Star Wars bypasted with this rule?? Im utterly fed up of seeing auction with the sentance: 'This figure has been cherry picked for its quality and painstakingly and proffesionally resealed to its original cardback. Why is there so much of it on the bay when ebay are supposedly against fakes??

Yep Ebay are full of ****, just look up Nintendo Dsi's for example you will find them by the dozen being sold from China alll quite obviously fakes and they even give you a memory card full of illegally copied games. As long as Ebay gets a cut it's all OK.

As a reformed repro manufacturer, I will say that they do catch people (They did me on several occasions). They will pull all your auctions and warn you first time out. The auction must be reported by someone in the community (They do not look on their own for repro auctions). One thing I did find funny back when I was doing it was that I was small time and seemed to get my auctions shut down all the time. The other bigger, higher volume recard/repro guys seemed to go unchecked. I complained about this at one point and Ebay stated it is like people speeding and that the cops can't catch everyone (It appears they only catch the sellers who do not have the highest sales volumes). Anyways you can report these guys to Ebay via their copyright infringement/ Reproduction area.

I've just started looking for a few loose pieces again and I can't believe the vast number of figures with repro weapons now. It seems a good 80% now come with them and the remaining 20% are highly dubious. Its beyond a joke.

Yeah but the forum can't give me an instant fix.

:D  :D

instant fix,, tha sounds familiar,,, i remember wanting a pile of stormtroopers and trawling through here and RS and nothing was there or in the right price,, cue ebay bidding to get the fix,, even placing a bid would take the edge off it :p

Yep i was just reading that a second ago.

And to be honest i am scared,, i was about to start getting the army back up and running but now i dunno.
Probably only on forums,, actually probably only on here.
But really i hope he replys and says something as that is scary.

if some wanted a minty army they just conntact and he moulds to order,, or ebayers start selling them and it all goes to pot.

if he did them like his Fetts in a different colour and with no paint ,, then that would be fine,, but these are immpossible to distinguish from the real deal in a photo.
And buy the time you bend the arms to test,, your money is gone to some ebay twat,, who is all "i didnt know"

This is what happens when you let someone like Mark Poon sell reproductions on your forum. He states "they can't be passed off as originals" BOLLOCKS! These will now enter the market and no one will be able to tell if they are buying originals or customs. RS should have banned him a long time ago but they like to pick and chose when they apply their own rules with regards to customs and fakes. I saw this coming and ranted on the subject sometime early last year.
I'm not gonna say anything on that thread as i'll just end up being rude but this is a little reap what you so for RS and the members who've been lapping up his customs and fakes for years.

yeah pete,, i knew little of him except for the rocket fetts,,, but they seemed harmless,, these however are not customs but fakes.

A custom does not look like the origional, whereas a fake tries to copy the origional exactly.

Ggrrrrrrrrr blood boils. :x

I agree. How do you think he paid for these tho?... What do you think gave him the inspiration to take things further??
Also, as well as the boxed uncoloured Fetts he did exact replicas of the reissue Fetts that ToysRUs did recently. Some could argue those were "fakes" too as opposed to customs.
