FAKES..

Hi,
I'm new to collecting and want to buy unopened/original/carded figures from ebay at reasonable prices to start with. Many of the ROTJ lot seem slightly more afordable but a lot of them claiming to not be reseals look suspiciously as if they might be.
Am i right to be suspicious? Does this sort of thing go on a lot and do you have
any hints on how to spot a recard from an unopened.
One of many examples - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 720wt_1167
Is this a recard or "original unopened" as it claims?
Another prime example -
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Star-Wars-Return- ... 500wt_1182

How can i tell?
Would apreciate your thoughts on this.

ps. perhaps you know some reliable sellers you can hook me up with.

I'm no expert on carded figures unfortunately as i focus mostly on collecting loose minty figures....I'm sure someone will be on soon to help you with how to identify original and recarded figures

If you want to know a reliable seller of carded figures from my own personal experience...There is a member on here called Caswellbot (Chris) I've bought my first carded figures from him recently and was over the moon with them. He is selling quite a lot of carded figures at the moment in the for sale section. I can vouch for him 100%!!! He'll send you close up photos of the carded figures you are interested in with a description. He is a great guy to deal with and will post your figures out to you packaged perfectly. Check out his stuff.

I may be interested in this, but still a bit green when it comes to knowing real from fake.

Anyone know much about this seller ?

Notice the lack of the word 'original' before the word 'red'.

Stay away from him mate.

I would say 90% of these red caped bibs have had their capes dyed red. Unless you know the seller or they have a good reputation, I would not buy one. This one appears to show signs of being dyed.

I always tend to have a read on Rebelscum's Photo Archives, where there's some great info on the figures themselves.

or even our own Cocofstar's site, which I've always found pretty useful 8)

http://landoslocker.com/

A tip I would give is, if a seller states .... "SOLD AS SEEN", where they are basically holding you to judge for yourself ... like the above listing 8)

Cheers Todd,
When I have one of everything, then I'll look at variants. Probably safer to ask on here who's selling.

you'll get used to ebay, you'll see who the "proper" sellers are because they describe everything as a fellow collector would :D
