Just a heads up for this seller. Dodgy blurred pics, he uses the water test as a bluff and says stuff like could be original but not 100% sure when I'd bet he'd damn well knows they're repro.

Feedback concurs they are repro.

Ebay ID: vintage6010

Wow, what a scum-bag. He tells people they are repro after they've paid. He's getting added to my block list.

Hi,

Not sure if this will be the correct thread, but I would really love to know if the Darth Vader on a 77 back ROTJ card I just bought from the states is a re-seal??

It doesn't have the waffled pattern but it is made in Mexico and does have the little hole in the card to let the air breathe around the inside of the bubble, which is very similar to the Paploo and Lumat I have on ROTJ 79 back.

Could you guys please advise in your professional opinion?

As always, many thanks to anyone who helps me out, I do appreciate it!

Thanks,

Bram :D

P.S If you need pics then please let me know and i'll try and upload them.

Just from the description it sounds good too me.

Phew! It's just that I bought it from the states which cost me £20 and then Customs charged me another £21.75!!

Any idea of value?

I realise without the pics then this will be hard but just a ball park figure would help me out and ease my pain!

Cheers,

Bram

If possible you need to shrink down your pictures or risk feeling the wrath of Edd...

At first look it seems fine to me. I'm sure others will chime in.

Pete.

I would like to know what that is behind Vader's head tho... :? Hard to work out.

I would say in that condition it's worth in the region of £40-50. Imo.

You are fine mate, it's a MIM (Made in Mexico) figure.

The characteristics of a MIM card are :

Lower quality of card
No "waffle pattern" on the seal
Made in Mexico COO
Hole on the back behind the figure (just like real Ledy MOC's)

Also- that vinyl/plastic sheet behind the figure is a factory measure to prevent the cape sticking to the cardboard. (which happens quite a lot unfortunately and obviously
was a problem back then not just now)

(Edit- what I really like about this card is that you have UK price stickers on it, I haven't really taken an interest in where MIM
cards were sold or looked at their price stickers but from memory I can't really say I remember seeing any sold in the UK, mainly just
in the states. Awesome figure!)

Oh and one more thing- the figure/accessories.

As MIM figures were made in Mexico they are exactly the same as real Lili Ledy figures, the accessories on the
other hand can be mixed with Kenner or Ledy ones. For example Gamorrean Guards on MIM cards will be the dark shoulder
pad Ledy version but the Axe may or may not be real Ledy. Same for short mouthed Bike Scout etc.

Your Vader looks like a Ledy Saber though (quite fat+dark red with a rounded tip?) - variant hunter AussieJames will correct me if I am wrong ;) :D

If it is a Ledy figure MOC is it still only worth around £40-£50?

You guys are awesome!

Thank you so much for helping out!

If you can tell me how to shrink them I will.

Cheers.

Bram :D

If uploading with photobucket you can resize them in edit mode. About 800 on the longest side should be ok. Other uploading sites i wouldn't know but there should be a similar facility.

Was that plastic sheet only behind figures which had a cape or behind others as well?

No I have also seen one behind a Ledy Biker Scout as well, but the majority are behind figures with capes :)

Ebay is packed with fakes at the mo:

I know its nothing new but for christ sake, there must be people out there buying the ****, if there is no demand the sellers wont bother.
The majority of the cardbacks look terrible, they are getting better though- the biker scout looks worrying good- if they could make a yellow bubble there would be no hope!!

I do not get the last one. A biker Scout on a repro jedi cardback....I mean these are actually abundant and affordable. ****** stupid.

What do you think of this Dark Brown Rebel Soldier

I'm thinking repaint. The seller knocks out a lot of fake stuff... and it is a bit too nice.

I'm no expert but there are scuff/wear marks on his hat that would make me think it was genuine.
Like I said though, I know FA about loose and wouldn't be confident of spotting a re-paint.

After three failed attempts at purchasing a cloud card pilot com link I think I finally got an original... the only thing is the plastic is a very dull grey, the small buttons and button-mount don't seem very well defined. I don't think it's painted but it looks a little rough - I'm finding it hard to get a photo that shows it well.

Washed out image, superglue residue, punch hole shows white cardboard used. I see it has a waffle pattern....but I believe I would stay far away from it....Actually after looking at it closer I think he was using that tape that gives it the waffle look.
