In bygone days a friend was usually just that,
You could discuss events, just chew the fat.
In the social arena, I mean usually the pub,
A group would form, now there's the rub,
A little banter, mixed with discussion light hearted,
Advice, support and pearls of wisdom imparted.
Then off away home, until the next time,
All parties away happy, and all is fine.
Then the advent of facebook, a misnomer I say,
Do you know who your talking to, I think nay.
Anonymity provided for those nefarious types,
Who bicker, who argue and proffer up snipes.
This all done, for no good reason, other than snide,
Simply to satiate a hunger to ridicule, mock and deride,
As behind technology they do cower,
Thinking they wield some level of power,
Over those that are normal, and of sound mind,
Who are decent, gracious, polite and kind.
Life is short, there is no exception to the rule,
So waste not your time as a facebook fool.
I much prefer to speak plain and true,
In the hope that like minded people will take that cue.
Each to his own though, I will not bitterness entreat,
The ones of which I speak must remain not deplete.
The vapid, the foolish, the stupid, we don't have to look far,
The existence of facebook means we know where they are!
Disclaimer......
There will be members of Facebook that are decent upstanding individuals, therefore my words are not directed at them, only toward the types that we are all aware of. :wink:
