EU books and Comic Chat

Just finished reading Choices of One. Unfortunately I waited too long after reading Allegiance otherwise I would have picked up this quicker. Another great Zahn book, although I wasn't too happy with the Luke/Mara exchanges as it kind of goes against some of the HTTE stuff. The next instalment is a novella so I'll have to find which book contains that to finish off the story.

Not sure what to do next. May go back to Fate of the Jedi series but also have some Old Republic to read. Won't touch Scoundrels (and the big last page spoiler) until it comes out on paperback.

Oh yes. A great read. Very well put together and Zahn's comments on those books were that he wanted them to be stories and not too comic bookish. You'll understand when you've finished it and if you've read comics like Dark Empire.

I think dark empire is very overrated, crimson empire is far better... Just reading scoundrels now, typical zahn excellence!

Expanded Universe - stories before, after and between the films. Though I'd imagine there are plenty of European Union books too.

I've read a few EU books and my favourite so far is Shadows of the Empire. I'm also playing the game on N64 at the moment too

I read one the Tales of the Bounty Hunters, my only problem is that because I don't have a film/photographic visual reference I have trouble visualising these EU tales. I was very close to buying one at the weekend opened it and there was some random character I had never heard of couldn't picture what he looked like and just put it down again. Oh I did read Death Troopers I think it was called some Zombie Stormtroopers with Han & Chewie in it again..... :? :? :?

I think its more my problem though than a EU one though .

I can't really play any computer games either that aren't grounded in the original trilogy either. I still play both SW Battlefront games religiously but can't go anywhere near the prequel levels as there isn't a connection for me in those films or visual references. I also struggle with the comics.

I think I may be very narrow minded

You may want to check out the Dark Horse comic series then. 2 I can think of off the top of my head

The Star Wars reboot which as just started. Now at issue 3 I think
The original SW screenplay series which has just been announced. Not sure of publication.

I'll have a think what else may be of interest.

The Dark Horse stuff is great.
Time will tell if the current crop are as good as some of the past offerings.

The Invasions line is good, all Yazic Vong and OT characters
Knight of the old republic is cracking, currently I think the 10th volume just got published so a lot to read
Dark Times is OK, could be a bit better though
Agent of the Empire is fun and a bit different.
The Clone Wars minis are great for kids, I buy them for my little ones, perfectly pitched and a load of them out, they did a few OT based ones as well a while back, most are £4 so good price as well.

If you go back a bit then you have to read
Legacy and Republic stories, including the run it titles they are great.

The rouge squadron stories are good as well. After that it is the more famous stand alone stories, Crimson Empire (of which the third instalment just came out), shadows of the empire, dark empire etc.

Actually the Empire title itself was quite good, can't remember how many volumes it was though.

Is there a SW subscription service for comics like in the US? I can't seem to find one. Nowhere near me stacks comics.

Just been on the dark horse wesite and then amazon to pre-order the next set of stuff as it comes up and saw that the legacy story is ongoing again, this time we get to see a far distantant Solo running around the galaxy rather than Cade Skywalker. Has anyone picked up the first few issues (I always wait for the volumes), if so is it any good, do we get a little crossover with some of the other legacy characters?

I totally agree Crimson Empire is far superior!

As for the new stuff, i'm currently glued to Dark Times & legacy (Hopefully as good a the first series with Cade Skywalker!!)

I see the next Dark Times and the First of the New Star Wars volumes have gone up on the dark horse site but not on amazon yet.

^have you read crimson empire 3 that came out last year, I was worried it was going to be a cash in using the crimson name but really liked it.
