Hi guys

Does this look ok/legit to you guys. Still learning on the cardback front, especially the early ones.

Any opinions would be good.

Sorry for poor pic quality, prob quite hard to tell legitimacy.

****, I had bid on this on the bay but wasnt winning it and didnt really want to. Somebody retracted their bid this morning which now means I am the winning bidder. I cant retract my bid because its less than 12 hours. Ive contacted the seller to say I dont want to bid on the item anymore and can they retract my bid.

Where do I stand if the auction finishes. I really dont want to pay for the item and am kinda prepared to get a non paying bidder strike if Ebay wont help me as I believe it to be dodgey.

What do I do???

Just don't pay, I had that recently with a resealed item I hit the BIN price on but checked it out before I paid, eventually after a bit of a hissy fit from the seller he sent a request to cancel the transaction and nothing more happened.

Worst thing that can happen is you get a non paying bidder strike but if its fake you can always plead the case to paypal/ebay - why not get a bunch of people to flag it as fake and report it- maybe itll get taken down before it ends

I know, looking at it now it screams fake. Like I said I wasn't planning on winning but a bit was retracted this morning.

What is the best option to do if she won't retract my bid:

1. Like Joe said, just don't pay, have a barny with the seller and get a non paying bidder strike(my preferred option)

or

2. Pay for it then open a dispute saying it fake and claim my money back.

I would rather not part with my money at all on this so prob will just not pay. Goes against my consistent eBay feedback but there's no indication in the description it is fake and I've even emailed her asking its authenticity, to which she replied it's genuine.

just dont pay, you wont notice any difference in your ebaying.

if your ever unsure and dont want to out the auction, either post pics here or simply google search the carback and do a "spot the difference" 2 things immediately stood out for me, punch size and position, and the price tag box was too low.

you'll pick up on these eventually and it will become a natural process of elimination.

p.s i love the way he has roughed it up a bit to look old LOL

It's gotta be real it was found at a boot sale in the 80's!

Kenner 12 Back Star Wars Stormtrooper.

Card is in very good condtion few scuffs round edges etc. Bought from a box of them at car boot sale in late 80s and been stored away in dry condition ever since. Original as far as I can see but can provide further pictures so sold as seen and described on here.

I'd just not pay - do you think your top bid will win you it? Maybe someone else will bid higher

Edd, no it wasn't, Joe's found the description above.

Joe, I'm hoping so, I bid £45 which at the time wasn't the highest bid and i wasnt going any higher, so I'm hoping someone else will outbid me, there's still 9 hours left.

I feel a ****ing idiot even bidding on this just for fun, so many things scream fake. Lesson learned, early cards will be bought only through forums now.

Some plonker will outbid you before the end don't worry. Then we can inform them its fake

dont worry about it lol, i leanred my lesson the hard way a few times.

not paying isnt going to affect you in nay way.

Yeah don't give yourself a hard time over it, I got conned by a fake 21 back Luke X wing a few years ago. As long as things look reasonably real and are selling/budding up to a decent price, it's not always immediately obvious to check.

Panic over guys. Spoke to the seller and expressed my wish to no longer buy the item and they kindly cancelled my bid for me as it was under the 12 hours. Very friendly ebayer actually, understood what i was saying and had no problem. Result :D

Did you tell your reason was because it is a fake/repro?

yea I said after looking at the extra photo's she had sent me and asking a few collecter friends what they thought, it was a unanermous vote at it being fake. She didnt seem that upset or annoyed that I was claiming that and I did say that if she wanted to I would go through with her why it is a fake. She said she had taken it to a shop and the guy there had said it was worth around the £100 mark.
